i've only ever seen them when they headlined Glastonbury at all - thought they were a bit pish to be honest. they just didn't seem to want to be there, showed precisely zero interest, and virtually ignored the crowd for the whole set. the crowd may as well have not been there.

What a ridiculous list. I guess Freddie should be number 1. What the heck is Chris Martin even doing in there?

Come on, it's Q magazine. It's firmly anchored in the 90's and if such a thing is possible, it's even less credible than Gordon Brown's smile...
Liam was once a half-decent frontman (and a half decent singer). But he doesn't belong on this list, let alone heading it. Seriously, Gallagher is better than Jagger, Mercury, Morrison, Morrissey and (FFS!) James Brown? Unless, of course, "frontman" is a new synonym for "moody git" |

1) Liam Gallagher
2) Bono 3) Freddie Mercury 4) Damon Albarn 5) Chris Martin 6) Matt Bellamy 7) Jim Morrison 8) Bob Marley 9) Paul McCartney 10) John Lennon 11) Robbie Williams 12) Debbie Harry 13) Mick Jagger 14) Morrissey 15) John Lydon 16) James Brown 17) Bruce Springsteen 18) Robert Plant 19) Tom Meighan 20) Joe Strummer This is truly awful !! Can't believe Bono is number 2, he is an awful man, also Chris Martin I don't think deserves to be that high, and the inclusion of Matt Bellamy just shows how dire British music has become - people will not remember Muse in 40 years !! Also wondering why Ian Brown is not in the list wheras the likes of Tom Meighan and Liam Gallagher who would probably admit to blatently copying Ian Brown? Also missing the likes of David Bowie, Robert Smith and even Paul Weller, which is extremely disappointing but thats just my opinion!! |

Well to be honest that's not really news now is it Cairriollis? (seems to be in fashion to add the letter 'i' to peoples names now??)
But yes I'm glad you've got over it, because it's actually going to haunt me forever and I don't think I will ever get over it Thanks for trying to help me though, perhaps you could also spread your life changing news to Karl Rove 'NME are sellouts', David Tee 'less credible than Gordon Browns smile' and Capablance 'what a ridiculous list' because I am sure they need your help and you know were not actually just giving an opinion (which is also what I said in my original post, but whatever!!)

IMHO Bono deserves to be #1 but Q magazine has been complete sh*$e for years now.If greatest frontman means spitting & throwing beer over your audience, acting like a 5yr old then mumbling or forgetting the words to your own songs then the Mancunian Minger deserves the #1 spot.
My top 5 frontmen: #1 Bono #2 Robert Plant #3 Bruce Springsteen #4 Paul McCartney #5 Eddie Vedder I've seen U2 19 times, and I know he's not to everyone's taste, but he can wrap 100,000 around his little finger, he is tireless & charismatic on stage and he can write a good tune or two and he has a great band behing him ![]() Robbie Willaims? Bruce at 17? Only one female? No Micheal Stipe or Eddie Vedder? Yes, this list is drivel! |

I'm curious what Paul McCartney and John Lennon are on the list for.
I suppose John is there because of The Beatles, as he was the frontman since it was his band and people remember them as John, Paul, George and Ringo, not Paul, John, George and Ringo. Therefore Paul must be there for Wings. Good god. Does that actually demonstrate his abilities as a frontman? I thought it demonstrated his ability at writing some of the most awful songs in history.

Why the hell is Robbie Williams higher than Morrisey?
I mean I like Robbie, but he's got nothing on The Smiths. What a load of.... |

Liam Gallagher - dear me - he's everything I could despise in a frontman - can't stand his voice and the way he leans over his mic with his hands behind his back with those stupid long parka jackets.
I prefer Freddie Mercury myself - excellent vocals, stage presence and outrageous attire.

He certainly was a charismatic frontman and did, somehow, manage to grab and keep the audiences attention.
Best ever though?, Not on a planet that gave birth to the likes of Freddie Mercury. |

Agree with this totally.
LMAO at people saying Bono as a great front man. Writes a good tune and has a great singing voice but there is not a more boring man alive than Bono. Best front man ever he is not. |

Lennon of course was a saint.
