Winners, could mean Gary and Hayley.
As I said before, he doesn't know when to shut up.

I think what he said was 'the usual hungry contestants'. Neither Gary nor Hayley is a winner yet.

He definately said winners

This is what he said:

"Kieron - he's just an underdog, and he's a lovely guy, and you know what, there's a wonderful gentleness about him that is so different, you know - he's away from all these hungry winners."

It was more about why he likes Kieron than it was making a dig at the others, really, I think.

Did he? OK then, I stand corrected.

Not very nice of him to make the dig though, eh?

But maybe he wasn't referring to either Gary or Hayley (just a thought). I must admit I didn't take it to be a dig at anyone else, but meant as a compliment to someone (if that makes sense).

Even if it was meant as a dig, as he hasn't called Hayley and Gary pillocks, I'm quite happy.

I watched the programme and agree that Donal didn't appear to be making a dig at anyone... he was just saying what a nice gentle person Kieron is and how he is seen as the underdog, which I would tend to agree with!

Am surprised that some people have interpreted Donal's comments as a dig at Gary & Hayley. To me he was just backing the underdog. I can understand how he would relate to Kieron as he was a similar position really - geting to the final on public vote & not judges. Just as judges have made it clear that Kieron wasn't their choice for the final, last year it was the same - had it been up to judges we would have had the overrated & annoying Zoe with her stupid manic grin in the final instead of the lovely Donal.

Oh shock, people on this forum misinterpreting what they say on DOI, heaven forbid. He may have been backing the underdog but what did he mean by his comments?

That he really likes Keiron, and he's the one he'll be rooting for on Sunday, I imagine. He's not a part of the show, so I can't see why he can't say whatever he wants, to be honest??? There's hardly anything offensive in what he said, unless you're absolutely desperate to take offence at the slightest perceived insult! Which I doubt Gary or Hayley are really.

I don't think it's a great surprise that Donal would be liking Kieron anyway.

Of course it is no surprise that he likes Kieron but he didn't have to have a dig at anyone else, did he? Yes, he can say what he likes but he is supposed to be such a lovely person according to many on here.

Think we'll have to agree to disagree on this one yellowlabbie - I genuinely didn't think he was having a dig at anyone.

Totally agree, he was just pro Kieron imo not anti anyone else. Just like people on DS myself included I'm really not anti Gary or Haley but my favourite is Kieron. If one of the others win I will be pleased for them.

If he said 'hungry winners', he could not have been referring to Gary or Hayley, could he?

I didn't see the programme but from what I've read I can't really consider it a dig at Hayley and/or Gary.

Like most of us posting on this forum Donal has a preference and simply elucidated on his reasons for supporting Kieron.

I will never be asked for my opinion on Loose Women or similar, but if I was my reasoning for a Hayley win would simply reflect my hopes and preference - and would not in any way constitute a dig at the other two finalists.

Hayley is my favourite but I find it difficult to split Kieron and Gary.

Initially Kieron evoked a rather indulgent smile from me - he was like an uncoordinated puppy, calf or foal; not quite sure what to do with all those awkward limbs - but he took on board some pretty acid criticism (Jason) and continued to give it his best shot.

Whatever happens tomorrow I'm sure Kieron will make me smile.

I think that's a good attitude and I like to think I share it

I wish all three finalists luck and look forward to being entertained by them, whatever the outcome.

And if he fails, I'll be happy to have a go - just name the time and the place!

Not for me to say what he meant, but I imagine it could have referred to past DOI winners or to past winners of other similar contests, either in particular or in general.

Mabe but it just seemed a strange thing to say.
