Recording from scart lead?

I have a cctv camera with the above scart connection, the trouble is that most digital recording equipment uses the RCA jack (video, audio R/L) leads, does anyone know of a cheap digital recorder that has a scart connection on it?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RCA_jack

Or a way to convert a scart connector in to the AV leads?

I know old video recorders have the scart connection but they are too bulky for my purposes.

Most dvd recorders will record from a scart lead, you can also buy an adaptor which will take scart and connect to svideo or phone, with a switch for either in/output. Available from Argos etc.

Yep, you can get an adaptor, but make sure it's the right one. If your camera has a SCART plug on it, you need an adaptor with a SCART socket on it.

Something like this one on eBay or something similar.

Check out your local branch of Maplins. They're sure to have the cable or adapter you need. You can check what they have online at

those are cables which are generally preferable to using an adapter as it is one less connection, and therefore one less thing to work loose (a common problem with SCART) and also less signal degradation, though usually a touch more expensive than using an adapter with an existing cable.
