I have to say I didn't 'get' Gary's performance before tonight, but he was better than Kieran IMO. Indeed, the Bolero was better than Hayley's, who was just carried around.

I think India was used (as I say on another thread) and that maybe increased his vote - but not for everyone. Everyone has different reasons to vote. But India couldn't have harmed him, and I'm sure she secured him a few votes by the way the production side used her.

Fair enough, I think I prefer your comments on this thread !

Oh come on, that is a awful thing to say! Personally I dont think it done Gary any favours at all! I think that a lot of people felt that the likes of Robin Cousins, and Nick and the production team, with the constant showing of Garys daughter in the audiance actually put people off voting for Gary, rather than getting the sympathy vote! It was very obvious that Robin and Nicky and even Karen wanted Gary in the final, because they felt that alongside Hayley he was the best skater. But people are forgetting that although Gary scored more than Kieron last week that it was Gary who was in the skate off with Daniella!

I think that Gary upped his game this week with his performances and thoroughly deserved his place alongside Hayley in the final! I could also see why it was a very hard decision for the judges last week when Gary and Daniella were in the skate off. I think that Daniella should have been in the final instead of Kieron!

I don't think I made myself very clear on the other thread.

HAHAHA I'm with you on that one, but there are an awful lot of people on these threads who seem to think bland "Call me Dave" Cameron lookalikes are sexy

I didn't actually say that ALL Gary's supporters were women who voted on looks alone - like the poster above, I can't see the attraction at all! But fair enough if you thought he skated well

Why all the fuss about Gary's daughter ? Every one of these type of shows has an agenda. The contestants are always doing it for their Mums/Dads/ dead grannies to make them proud. The camera often goes to their families. How many times did we see Hayley's family all decked out in 'Hayley and Dan' tee shirts ? Daniella mentioned her children loads of times.
So, why all of this spite about Gary ?

I think he thoroughly deserved his place. He was far better than Keiron on the night, and I enjoyed his Bolero more than Hayley's, although I think Hayley was consistently excellent and really deserved her win. I think the result was a very fair one and nothing to do with individual skaters' families.

Am I understanding your post correctly? Do you really think David Cameron looks anything like Gary Lucy?

Cameron looks about 10 years older than he actually is and has a face like a pantomime dame.
Gary Lucy looks quite handsome in a smooth kind of way.

You get that in most shows. Gary stayed in because his fans wanted him in. Whilst I'm pleased that Hayley won, Gary did very well.

I thought she was a gorgeous little girl and loved her father very much

It certainly didn't influence my voting when he spoke of her so much, I think it brought out a very soft side to Gary

It drives me mad, I don't think any of the families should be shown or mentioned, even if they are in the audience and why were there so many celebs in the audience last night - and I don't mean previous skaters like Ray Quinn - Strictly is just as bad, as was X Factor until Simon decided more tickets should go to the general public.

Do any of you take your families to work? The world's gone totally mad and now it's pouring with rain again.

Rant over.

I certainly talk about my family at work (and my guinea pig). I also have shown my family my office at University (I was very proud of that), so in answer to your question yes. I do agree though that I generally don't like the sop stories (I'm doing it for my dead dog, he always loved me singing to him, when we went for a walk). However, involving your kids in a family entertainment show, is in my view, not the end of the world.

Still bitter Katie? Come on, get over it.

Gary came second. Gary and Maria. So happy! Bet India is too.

Oh what a shame - someone loves their daughter so much that they mention her once a week. Wow!
It's not Gary's fault the cameramen pan to her after every performance.
Also, maybe it's possible that Gary loves his daughter more than the show, and mentions her because she loves it?

There is some real nastiness about! It's not like he moaned about something every week, he was just mentioning his daughter who is enjoying his performing!

Personally, for me, I was much more annoyed by Hayley and Dan's VT every week "and then we had that fall.... *sad music*" or "and this week I have this injury, and this injury and this injury, and it's so hard and painful, and it's so difficult being good because people expect us to be good" ok, OK, OK we get it!!!!

but at least the Hayley and Dan VT's were about the skating

Such a pity that you couldn't make your very valid point without resorting to the nastiness of which you complain - which incidentally is completely wrong. She didn't complain about injuries on DOI - although some have said she so in her tweets; but that most certainly did not apply to her vts.

He still lost so I'm happy, his face was a picture when he went out what a bad loser. He was also p*ssed off in the first week when he was in the skate off before we seen his daughter. Oh but what happens whenever his daughter appears....... he avoids the skate off.

Worst finalist ever.

Ahh so sweet .... and so cynical.

Actually I thought he looked genuinely delighted for Hayley.

Yes I agree, he also said she deserved to win because she was top every week.

Careful with those sour grapes, they give you awful wind.

By the way, I didn't see any evidence of Gary being a "bad loser". He seemed resigned to the outcome, he was probably a little bored to be standing there waiting for the result..which was obvious to everyone.

Ah yes he was bored whenever he found out Hayley won.

He lost. I'm hardly having sour grapes.
