If you add in Sunderland and Hull, half of top flight teams are within a 90 mile radius of Leeds!

Although Burnley look likely to drop down they could be replaced by Blackpool who are only just below the Championship play off zone with 6 games to play!

Maybe Hayley and Daniel's triumph last night is a good omen for Ian Holloway's boys!

All northerners are secretly trained on the ice from the age of 3, just in case they might end up on DOI...

... and football just in case they are scouted for a premiership team.

Well Yorkshire ain't the North West and there are numerous other connections to Yorkshire including Mr Fountain and others' exploits and Bradford...so we do need to expand it to the North but otherwise...agreed! And don't forget the coaching input of Karen and her hubby both from the NW..and Nicky as a judge.

Quite a few reality shows have had winners from the North West.

Some are even born with skates on and/or footy boots.

I think this is the key. We have a strong loyalty to our roots, which a lot of Southerners don't seem to have.

I think the DoI success probably has most to do with the number of soaps made in the region

Oh hang on just a minute .. Chelsea, Arsenal, Tottenham, Fulham and West Ham are from a much smaller area .. and three of them are in the top four.

Northerners are better on ice .. but you'd expect that wouldn't you

Aye oop dazie - we're tough oop north.

Cos us Southerners think ice skating is for poofs and sissies.

That could be a bit freaky for some poor unsuspecting parents.

But the population of London alone is higher than the whole of the North West.
On top of which, it's a good deal easier for Londoners (or southerners) to take part in a show which is filmed in London every week than it is for the rest of the Country. Just look at the trouble they had getting Ricky Whittle onto Claudia's show each week.
