Hey everyone,

Im a big fan of the Sugas and think they are getting a lot of stick lately, but think their new album is definitely one of their best work regardless of the members of the band.

But wanted to ask the question whether they are allowed to sing tracks from the Sugababes' debut album One Touch such as Overload because its none of their songs.

Well even though it would seem stupid even from a big fan like me, i dont see why not as at the end of the day, they are all signed up to be the Sugababes and that is meant to be in their back catalogue.

Just wondering i suppose...

Anybody can sing a cover of another artist's song live. It's treated the same way as if you sang the song at a karoake. It is another thing as to whether the record label they are signed to want them to sing those songs though. The record label probably have a say on set lists.

Yeah, but i doubt they would ever want to. I don't care much for their first album though aside from the fantastic Run For Cover.

Imagine the uproar if they all sang Overload. Half the forum were pissed that they sang Freak Like Me!

I don't think they'll be singing much of anything soon.

Well two non-originals did, with Keisha.

So why can't three?

They could perform it at their shows if they wanted - and even record it providing they don't release it otherwise they'd be in big trouble depending on who has the rights.

Actually, I think their label has the rights to "Overload" (and others) so they could re-record it and re-release it if everyone wanted to.

I'd imagine that as a manufactured group, the record company has all the rights and the girls themselves are basically session vocalists.

This has been asked loads. Heidi said they will do anything from Freak Like Me onwards because she was included. So no they won't be singing Overload again.

Good, because back on the "One Touch" era the Sugababes were at their best. Since then they have just been a bit of a joke.

Slighty off topic but have you heard this?

Its so beautiful. Heidi is quite overlooked vocally isn't she. I have to admit Keisha's voice is much more distinctive than Jade's. It is actually the Heidi/Keisha vocal mix that created the special Sugababe sound. Its quite clear when you listen to this. They have lost that special thing now though.

I think I have come round to the idea they should have been allowed to split last year. I really feel for Jade though. She looks like a poor little lost rabbit. I hope they can make a go of things for her sake.

TBH I think people went far (and still do) into the 'zone' with the new 'sets' of Sugababes. At the end of the day, they are still a band and it's not earth-changing if they swap members etc.

As the three original babes are listed as co-writers for Overload, I have often wondered about that one myself. I don't think they can. Wasn't there some legal issues that arose with the release of Overload the Singles Collection. I vaguely Keisha wanting to re-record Overload, but this was not allowed. All the songs had to be used in their original format. I wonder if this applies to performing them, particularly with Overload as none of the current members have rights to the track?

Yes Keisha said she wanted Amelle and Heidi to record all of Mutya and "That Girl's" vocals for overloaded. Which seemed quite nasty at the time.

Heidi has said they will not perform One Touch Songs . Although Keisha, Heidi and Amelle used to do a cracking overload.

Well the music industry is a tough one as Keisha knows to her cost. It was very poor judgement on Jade's part to agree to swoop in and join an established band under the circumstances in which she did. So, no, I'm unable to feel sorry for her. Or any of the others for that matter.

Well I can't feel sorry for Keisha either. She showed no sympathy to Siobhan when she forced her out and she didn't have any problem continuing the band without her ''best mate'' Mutya either. Who she also slagged off several times after she left. So much for loyality back then eh? Keisha can play tough when she wants.

Maybe Keisha just got a dose of well deserved karma.

She didn't know Keisha was being axxed though, and that was a very unlikely scenario what with all the Amelle rumours. There would have been little to no problem with her replacing Amelle.

So there.

The facts are Siobhan and Keisha fell out, however many years ago:yawn: and Siobhan left the band of her own accord. As did Mutya. All the rest is 'he said, she said' bullsh!t...which you keep repeating ad infinitum:yawn::yawn:...as if you were there (which you weren't!) and with no evidence whatsoever.

As for Karma, we'll see won't we?

i love you for saying the part in bold! so very true. never forget keisha wanted heidi and amelle to re-record all the vocals for the songs on the greatest hits. easing mutya and siobhan from history in the process but got blocked from doing so and she is on record as saying it so her die hard supporters just cannot even deny it

What does it matter if it was many years ago? fact is it happened just like it happened to Keisha herself.

There is a saying. Don't give it out if you don't want it back. Keisha should have done well to remember that because it came back to her didn't it.

What ever now happens in the future happens. But karma did seem to bite Keisha on her arse.

If you want to argue it like that, you could say Karma's bitten Jade, Amelle and the other one. I prefer NOT to see it as Karma every time something negative happens to me or when things don't quite go as planned but each to his/her own.

Maybe it did but we'll see what happens.

However Keisha's lack of respect for her previous ex band mates prior to any so called 'making up' does make her own exit seem like rough justice and actually quite deserved.

If Keisha had any respect for Mutya she would have followed her out of the door at the time.

Broken record much. Repeating it squillions of times doesn't make it any more true. You've no inside info so give it a rest.:sleep:

Well it seems you just don't like it when someone's says something you don't like.

You call me a broken record yet you are defending Keisha and slagging off Jade in nearly every Sugababe thread so hahaha.
