If you go to skating shows like the DOI tour and the Ice Parties, you are asked to cheer the skaters when they do a good lift, spin etc., and to cheer (for encouragement) even louder if they fall. The skaters themselves have told me and my friends that they love the noise and the louder the better!!!”

Thank you for posting this comment. I can't believe that people didn't realise that is what goes on in a live show. The produce team control the audience and also control the content of the show. Which means they take clips of all the celebrities off the ice and decide what to show and what not to, including deciding show them with their children.

Two things:

Whilst the cheering and booing may create an atmosphere in the studio, it can be really distracting and off-putting when watching it at home. I know that it's all part of the show for the people there, but is there no way the production crew can set something up so the people wathcing at home can hear e.g. the judge's comments which the audience are screaming over the top of? Maybe double-mike them? A studio mike and a smaller microphone that transmits the sounds to the people at home? (I know Big Brother have used something like this a few times, where davina has had one microphone (which she holds) so the crowd can hear her, and a smaller microphone for the studio which is attached to her clothes).

Yes, the production crew may decide what to show, but if the parents don't consent to them being filmed for VTs then they can't be shown (although they may still be able to be shown in studio/audience shots). Personally, the shots of India in the crowd with her banner didn't irk me - I expected them, the same way i expected to see Emily's mum, or Gordon Ramsay and the kids. What irked me was that on both occasions when Gary was in the skate-off his subsequent VTs were very India-focused, which to me seemed on a parallel with the X-Factor sob-stories; it seemed like a case of 'If you don't put this contestant through, this incredibly cute little girl will be upset' and almost an element of emotional blackmail.
