yeah! i love the Kaleidoscope album, it is so raw R&B, and Tasty in 2003 was also great, i should really get into the others before Flesh Tones is released!

Wanderland is a criminally underappreciated album...her finest work in my opinion!

cheers, i think i ought to check out that album then! i just have her first one Kaleidoscope and Tasty, don't have Kelis Was Here either

so looks like i ought to save up for them and Flesh tones as well as Christina Aguilera's Bionic!
crazy but alright so far i have a few months to do it all in, Flesh tones is out in May isn't it? and i think Bionic is June 7th, so yeah all will be good.

i just love that new fresh sound, kickin' R&B's arse she is! it shows you don't need to be commercial to be artistic and appreciated. i mean Madonna's Devil Wouldn't Recognise You should have been released from Hard Candy as that had a new and authentic R&B sound that hadn't been explored before...love the song and album!

cannot wait to get all my summer tunes lined up Acapella and Not Myself tonight look set to be real crowd pleasers and to top the charts over coming months

oooooh the excitement continues!

for me Kelis has it all without being commercial about it, that was all tbh. this is the first post i have mentioned ms Knowles, but if you think i am bashing i am gonna LOL it off

come on FLESH TONES...Fearne Cotton played it a few minutes ago as her record of the week! yay!!”

Hi Josh

First of all, it's not the first time you talked about Bey, these are just some

Leave that aside

There is nothing wrong with stating your prefernce or opinion and i respect that. I just didn't understand how Beyonce got into what you were saying!

I like Beyonce and i listen to her songs like millions of people .. i don't listen to Kelis and am not a fan of xtina but i don't go around trying to undermine them because they have fans and people that listen to them.

anyway, am anticipating xtina's new single
Take care Josh

Hi ohirome
Beyonce is the lead singer for Destiny's Child .. She achieved big before Kelis came to the scene

anyway, i really wish Kelis success with her single and album

I like it. The video is really cool too. I'm not a huge fan of Kelis, but I like some of her singles.

But that was part of a girl group - the success was shared, it wasnt solely due to Beyonce at that time - she only really took off as THE Beyonce after she went solo. Kelis has been an innovative member of the rnb/hip hop world for much longer than Bay. Sorry!

At that time DC was about Beyonce, the other girls didn't really sing until after a few albums. She sang lead, wrote and produced their hit songs, she was the one, so Bey sang, wrote and produced songs (innovative member of the rnb/hip hop world) before Kelis.

I would hardly call any of their output as innovative or groundbreaking whereas Kelis was slightly left field from the beginning.

Beyoncé is hardly innovative, and she doesn't write songs - she sticks her name on the writing credits for more money. Many songwriters who worked with her have said this throughout the years.

Beyonce never claims to write songs by herself. This is a quote from her "I don't play any instrument," she says. "I have writers that I write with, or I have writers that will send me a full song, and I'll rearrange it - change the second verse, change the melody, keep a chord that I like, and recreate it. Just depends. I might bring in whoever I think can help the song. When I have just a beat it's the most fun for me. I'll get somebody to play whatever I hum for the bassline. So I'm creating a whole track with my voice."

She wears her influences on her sleeve and doesnt give credit where its due. She rips off other peoples art and hard work. She has a team who create her outputs for her...the list goes on. She is far from a natural performer and extrovert...look at old pics and videos of her. She was just a boring italian american girl with a keyboard.

Are you joking? Kate has her place in music history, however she hasnt had a decent record in a very very long time. Her artistic progression was never really all that amazing, however most of her releases were top quality.

Bjork however has inspired most alternative artists of our time, especially the female ones. Her music is innovative with every release, although maybe not to mainstream tastes.

As for Siouxsie...again, she has her place but shes overhyped. The Banshees were a fantastic act but as her recent creative outputs have shown, shes stuck in a rut creatively and musically...her last album was almost embarassing in parts and her live performances were dodgy at best.

Icons of their time and inspirations for sure...thesedays theyre just another name on a Back to the 80s compilation im afraid.

yeah even though it's like waaay off it is a fun read...keep it up! haha XD
but i see how Bjork may be brought intothis as the video for Acapella is very unusual and arty like her video's are.
also leave my kate bush alone! i love her albums esp. The Sensual World, Hounds Of Love and The Dreaming, they are genuinely brilliant epic sounding albums that are very relevant and deep, NOT THROWAWAY AT ALL she's a British icon in music, our British Madonna if you will even if Bush hasn't had that needed success in recent year, Aerial is a great album (2005 was a great year for music IMO).

Kelis is doing a great job in finding her feet with new disctinctive sounding material and a sensational new video to bring it to live.
Acapella is a new favourite of the year along with my love for Gorillaz Stylo and Ms Aguilera's EPIC Not Myself Tonight!

Why are people always bickering about who's better and who paved the way? Each to their own opinion. I like all the artists mentioned in these childish posts.

Its called debate and discussion. If we all agreed and spouted off the usual 'each to their own', we'd live in a thoroughly boring world.

I wouldnt say Kate has made anything throwaway as such, however she has never been all that diverse. Her last album was popular amoungst the fans, however id argue that this was mainly due to the excitement of actually getting a new KB release Personally, it was dire...but each to their own.

of course it matters, it matters that historic facts are upheld...

...and bjork has? imho i dont rate bjork one bit. kate bush is our greatest ever female talent bar none. siouxsie ovehyped? ..... yeah right, thats why her self created music and fashions are still very much alive today in the indie scene, besides she unwittingly created 'goth' . if anything she is not getting the true recognition she richly deserves.

i think you are being too hard on them m8, they are still much more then 'another name on the back of an 80's compilation cd'...
