The wait for the winner's name
burnt toast
29-03-2010
And the winner is...

and just how long did he wait before giving the name. We've got used to all these shows making the announcements oh so slowly but I had time last night to go make a cup of tea before the actual name was given. Ridiculous!

Yeah it's long, especially when your favourite is in the top two.

I was more annoyed that he didn't say the professionals name yet again.

I made a roast dinner in the time it took him to say Hayley's name.

They do it for effect, tention ect, but really its just annoying and I hate waiting grrr

Keiron and Brianne could have done their Bolero in the time it took.

Agreed. I think we may be stuck with this. I tweeted Pip complaining about this last night and this was his response:-

I think it's only you that's bothered I'm afraid, the pros are more than happy to let the celebs have their moment, so chill !

I was rather irate in my tweet - I guess that's why he responded to me as he must have got loads last night.

What? THEIR moment? It's both of their moments.

but it's not just us, i'm sure i remember reading on here that both suzanne and kyran complained about the fact that the pro's name wasn't announced as well. I know it's the celebrity who's learnt to skate and done all that and whatever, but they wouldn't have got there without the pro and personally i think its quite rude.

Well on This Morning with Alison Hammond, Ray Quinn did an impersonation of Phil announcing the winner, and he said you have time to make a cup of tea, have a game of chess and a game of snooker before Phil announces the winner!! And I agree about announcing the pro name as well!

really? Ugh... patronising idiot Philip has really got on my wick this year. It is NOT only you that's bothered, countless fans don't like it and I think both Kyran Bracken and Suzanne Shaw (?) complained in the past that the pros should get a mention too.

EDIT: oops, repeating what someone has just said!

OMG cheeky git I also tweeted him a few days ago asking for a change in the announcement of the winner and I know plenty of other people who have said they don't like the way its done so its surprising he thinks its only you that was bothered

Did you tweet him back again telling him that he was wrong & its not just you?

I only tweeted back to say we'll agree to disagree. I think if I had said what I really felt I might have got blocked LOL.

Maybe all of us just need to keep bombarding him.

Yes both Suzanne and Kyran were quite publically peeved about it...

ON SCD, both pros and celebrities' names are announced - I can't see why they don't mention both their names as the pros put in an awful lot of hard work to get the celebrities to the level they are by the end of the series - it would show how much they are appreciated - all they have to do is announce their names - is it that much effort

I seem to remember regarding X Factor, Dermot said that he is told the name of the person eliminated but not allowed to say it out loud until the producer tells him to and he doesn't like the wait. He also said the contestants were trying to see who had been eliminated by watching who he was looking at, so in the end he has to look away.

This long wait is really annoying, even Alan Titchmarsh started doing it on The People's Crooner and the writers' competition they had. Perhaps we all need to bombard the producers telling them we're fed up with this nonsense.

We should also bombard them and tell them we do want the professionals named as they have done a lot of work too.

He said Hayley Tamaddon for the announcement, but then said our winners Hayley and Daniel just before the end. I paraphrase but at least he did mention Dan, if not straightaway
