Iphone - Lost Everything?? Help
Hello, i have done a search on the following but could not quite find a problem which matched my own - or my friends - phew not mine lol
He has an iphone and last night went to a friends house who charged it up with her computer. When he got it back from her it just had the plug into itenes symbol on it. I have plugged it back into his computer and got the phone working again problem is that hes lost everything - contacts, texts, apps, etc. I did a back up of his phone but it was from last December. i have no idea what his friends computer has done to it - and his friend has no idea too! Would i be correct in assuming he has lost everything - his friends computer wouldnt have stored his info before deleting would it? Thank you |

Ok, the information stored on the iPhone is a copy of what is stored on your home computer.
When you connect your iPhone to your computer it will check that the information stored on it is up to date, if you have deleted anything etc. When your friend connected their iPhone to your friends computer it has wiped the information your friend had on it and replaced it with whatever info was on the the laptop it was connected to, because you have to tell iTunes to put songs on an iPhone it has put NOTHING on your friends iPhone, effectively wiping it. You should sync your iPhone every day to make sure you have a back-up saved on your computer, that way you will never lose anything you have downloaded. You friend 'should' have all his info saved on his computer, if he doesn't then he has learned his lesson the hard way. Tip for the future, don't charge your phone using a laptop without first making sure iTunes is not open. Finally, sync your phone everyday, its not hard to do and only takes a few minutes. |
