Pat not giving Janine an alibi - surely that doesn't work

Janine's trouble has always been that she makes up unsophisticated lies on the spot, without thinking them through. Almost every word she has said to the police has incriminated her further. I suppose the writers are trying to show that in life everybody eventually gets what's due to them. Natural justice if you like, where she gets her comeuppence for the one thing she wasn't to blame for.

The thing is, for a miscarraige of justice like this to work, it needs to be much more believeable. The devil is in the detail, and EE are just not showing how this could logically happen in real life.

This whole farrago of events is a travesty of a sham of two mockeries of a farce. (Thanks Woody Allen).

This is soapland. The dont work like that. You only have to look at the horlicks that was made over Barrys death fall. No investigation, no postmortem, body cremated ashes returned all within 48 hrs. Wonderful. They also never have any luck investigating anything there do they. Who shot Ian Beale, who cares. What about the Steve Owen job where he succesfully framed sad Matthew.

Janine thinks she is above the law

Are EE really going to go for this? (haven't read the spoilers recently so not sure of the outcome). That would mean Janine languishing in jail for many months awaiting trial -- then they would have to show the trial next year at a time when Charlie B will be otherwise engaged in her fabulous new career in The Bill (and when we'd all completely forgotten about it and were immersed in another gangster love triangle storyline -- "Who Shot lil Mo?" perhaps). EE tends to prefer instant justice of a non-official variety. Either that or they go on the run like Fil.

Oooh you !

Charlie B reminds me of my mother-in-law. All badness on the outside, mad mental evil incarnate on the inside. And that's on a good day!

All kidding aside I think Charlie B would be a good assett to the bill *- She could come in as a hard faced DI and wipe the floor with Fill and Sam.

* provided they give her a good storyline

Isn't Charlie Brooks a bit young for DI. A DC on the make maybe, as she only looks 25 tops.

Apparently, Charlie Brooks has confirmed that these scenes will be her last - meaning that she either gets arrested, tried and sent down in the space of a week - or she does a runner to Spain (maybe she'll bump into Phil??)

Or, maybe, Pat will mention in passing in 6 months time that Janine has been been sentanced to life? If all else fails - she could then join Bad Girls!!

She also dropped some kind of receipt in the flat, didn't she?

Well if they sent over someone the calibre of Gina Gold I wouldnt mind. But come to think of it they have no-one of that calibre left.

There are 2 issues here.

1. She is a potential suspect because she lives with laura and 'found' the body.

2. Janine stated that she was with Pat. If Pat denies this the defence would be entitled to ask her for evidence of where she actually was.

Pat could also be said to have a motive, as she is grandmother to Ian''s eldest son, and Laura was keeping the knowledge of his youngest son, Bobby, from him. They could have easily been arguing over this. She has also been in jail for killing someone, and is a former prostitute.

Enough to warrant a closer look.
