Don't know if this has been mentioned but...

Watching the final last night I got the impression there was more to Gary and Maria's working relationship. When the camera showed Gary's girlfriend's face she didn't look happy. Maria went in for a kiss on the lips (pouting) Gary noticed the camera and kissed her head instead! They just seemed a bit too couply if you know what I mean!

Anyone else spot this?

Gary kissed poor maria's head every time he spoke! It was driving us mad! The poor girl must now have a dent in it!!

I just think Gary's a bit shy when he gets put on the spot.

I noticed he fidgets a lot and his voice went a bit squeaky too! Kissing Maria's repeatedly was probably just something he did because of nerves.

blimey - that is nothing to what everyone was accusing Ray and Maria of last year!
Have to say, Maria looked none too happy all the way through this year, somewhat depressed - maybe she is finding it all a bit much now as she has a little boy she is away from for about 6 months of the year.

She has tweeted several times over the last few weeks about how much she misses her son, he came over for a few days last month and was quite ill when he got home and she seemed very down about being so far away from him!

I was in Oz last series so don't have a clue about those rumours.

I just caught a glimpse of Gary's girlfriend looking none to happy, and noticed Gary and Maria looking very close...guess I was reading too much into things.

According to her fan site he was 8 last November!

I've watched the last 5 series of DoI and, maybe I'm also guilty of reading too much into things, but have to agree with MarzBar85. As the series progressed there appreared to be increasing intimacy - also on Maria's part that I did not see with her previous celebrities. It was all very sweet and gentle, though, for example, when Gary buried his face in Maria's hair to draw strength, this is a highly intimate act and would rarely be seen between people other than close relatives, life-long friends at ease with each other on a physical level (and would usually be between same-sex friends) or lovers.

This is actually quite amusing. Maria seems to attract this. I remember last year the forums and tabloids were full of "were Ray and Maria having an affair" and how jealous Rays longterm girlfriend Emma was of their relationship! Nothing in it at all of course, but I suppose people like to imagine there is more going on than there is!

Really?! Didn't see that as don't read the newspapers, though Maria never looked 'couply' with Ray to me. Maybe the producers encourage the stars to act close in order to attract further media attention?

Hi - Oh the Ray thing was all over this forum as well as the mags and rags, do you remember the evening show that used to link the 1st and 2nd half of the main programme - Defrosted I think it was called - can't remember the presenter but he actually asked Nicky Slater if Duncan fancied Maria - as fat_wee_grill said, Maria seems to attract these rumours

What!?! That is laughable; I watched the series and, whilst Duncan seemed in awe of, and maybe a little infatuated with Maria, I always thought she showed no romantic interest in him whatsoever. In fact, I remember at one point Duncan was next to her after a skate, gushing about her, hugging her and saying how wonderful she was. She simply smiled and was totally professional.

She compared him to her 5 year old son on the tour that year.
