Tuesday 30th BT Vision will be available to customers who have their line with another company

However it will not be available

Customers who have their line over cable or Local Loop Unbundling (not part of the BT Openreach network)

Seems like a big way forward

That's because customers with other providers that aren't LLU are still connected to the BT network and basically just paying for a rebranded BT service. It will see a nice potential rise in viewers though.

Roll on Talktalk TV for those of us who can't get BT Vision.

Hmm still the issue over data usage for non bt broadband customers, i doubt other isps will not count the usage like bt broadband do..

If Vision is available to non-BT customers, I wonder if Plus Net (a stand-alone BT ISP) will be tempted to offer the service too?

The sooner BT realise that part of the reason people don't want BTV is because you have to have BT BB the better, I want to keep Be* BB that's why I would not have BTV, wake up BT before you miss the boat.

So you would be happy to pay excess fees for going over your limit then?

The reason BTV needs a BT BB is that it wont affect your data limits.

There seriously needs to be a disassociation of broadband and TV here.

BT dont (and shouldnt) give a damn about data usage, in the same way BBC (iPlayer), Sky (player), netflix etc etc etc dont. These are all available via various set top boxes

I've done some research, BT don't have 'unlimited' data usage from servers to set top box's, same goes for talktalk tv, both providers are paying for the usage.

No it is not, i had my phone service with another supplier when i first started to use Bt broadband, that was rental and call charges.

The only reason I moved my phone service back to Bt was because I was considering BT Vision.

If it is true that you can use Bt vision if you are with another phone supplier, i know of one person who would be very happy.

It is true, I called bt today and they said yes you can order it now but only with bt broadband because of the usage allowance, but its not used from your normal allowance, or something like that

It needs to be BT BB so the QoS can be set up for VOD.

What's the limit for Be*

There are two companies that would disagree with you like 3view and Fetch TV.

IPTV is the future but not with BT unless they sell it as a standalone option that can be used with any ISP.

3view and Fetch TV dont have anywhere near the amount of content that BTVision has.

My friend have BTVision, but wants to go from BT phone service to another which she thinks is better value, BT told her at the time that BT Vision would not work. I text her this morning and she is going to phone Bt latter on just to make sure.

I think some people are getting confused here. this comes across as if you got WRL, which is paying for your line rental and calls to another company, you can now have Bt Vision, where before BT would not allow you too,. You still need BT broadband to get BT vision.

All this means is that Bt also lied their backside off when they told me that the reason I could not have BT vision was because they could not do the QOS due to my landline being with One Bill. It was just a excuse to get me to get to use BT for calls as well.

Your line will still be connected to BT but billed by talktalk for line rental and calls if you do not have broadband with talktalk, unless you have IPSTREAM or DSLMAX broadband (which is chargeable)
