It can have more features, you have more ways of personalising the phone, there are third party apps etc.The phone won't "perform" any better and in the end it's all down to personal preferences.I have always bought mobiles that could be hacked and prsonalised and the iphone is the ultimate hacking machine for me.
You can always restore your phone through iTunes if needed. It is said that the latest firmware is just to stop a jailbreak. |

I jailbroke my phone once, and never again.
I installed Winterboard - allowing custom themes, and SBSettings - toggles from the top of the screen, and my home screen performed very badly indeed, scrolling from page to page was too jerky. Don't bother with the readily available theme packages, they are very gimmicky and make the phone feel very cheap. I had ProSwitcher and Backgrounder installed and I think to be honest that was the best bit. However, I did the latest software upgrade and unjailbroken, and I now prefer the smooth running. I had it crash a number of times while playing music via my Parrot unit in the car, and since I restored it it hasn't crashed at all. Oh - and when jailbroken, my 30% full 3GS took a full 2 and a half minutes to reboot. Its totally up to you, but I really don't see the point at the moment. Back in the early days before the app store - yes, but not now. |

My friend did it and he got:
Unlimited free access to the Apple app store Unlimited free access to iTunes A new app store from Cidia, offering Apple-declined apps Thousands of different themes to use. The option to customise the display, like you can on other phones. Free programs to unlock the phone, to use it on other networks. Disadvantages If jailbreaking goes wrong, the iPhone could become bricked (disabled). Battery life is reduced significantly. iPhone crashes more often. Screen animations become jumpy and apps take longer to load. A jailbroken iPhone is voided from Apple's warranty, though this can be undone by reseting the phone in iTunes. |

There is no reason why apps should take longer to load unless you have things running in the background. What do you mean by screen animations? if you are talking about moving from page to page then the more pages you have the longer it will take to move from page to page, and if you have a jailbreak then you will almost certainly have more addons. I have had statups in safemode but not enough to worry about and it's not a big deal for me. I paid what I consider a lot of money for my iPhone and do not like the likes of Apple or anyone else telling me what I can and cannot put on my Iphone,it is MY phone. I'l keep my Jailbreak and wouldn't consider a restore, but this is my personal preference. |
