JLS working with Labrinth, Stargate and Toby Gad for new album!
Quote:
"JLS have begun work on their second album, according to reports. source http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/music/ne...ond-album.htmlThe boyband, whose eponymous debut album has sold over one million copies, revealed that they have been working with Labrinth, who recently produced Tinie Tempah's 'Pass Out'. "We don’t want to take our foot off the gas," the band told the Daily Star. We’re with Labrinth this week and will be back and forth to LA to work on the album over the summer." Marvin Humes, 24, added: "The quality will step up as now people have seen our sales figures they’re more open to work with us. "We’re doing tracks with Stargate and Toby Gad, who has worked with Beyoncé. Emails are going back and forth with Jason Derulo about setting up time with him too." As much as I'm not a fan of JLS, I'm pretty excited on what they will cook with these producers and I agree with Marvin that their sales will pique top producers' interest in working with them. I'm especially excited about them working with Labrinth which I believe will give them an edge. The producer is new, meaning not many artists will sound much like him and seems really talented (the pass out tune is hot) Toby Gad and Stargate has produced pretty good tunes and all what they need is Danja, Red-One or some other new talented producer and they're set to go. This shows Jive is pretty serious about them breaking the U.S. and the producers on their new album will be a far cry from the last. J.R. Rotem and Soul Shock and Karlin are still pretty talented though. Wonders what they're planning with Alex because as things are going, JLS will outperform her longterm which is quite unfortunate ![]() what other producers will you like them to work with? |

So are they gonna crack america then? I mean working on a new album and yet the first aint even been released in the US
I would love a Red One, JLS intro of course. Maybe JR rotem again. I would totally see a Taio Cruz collab working. |

Where did I say Leona? - Jive are deadly serious about JLS just as they were about Leona, where as Alex and Cheryl are nobodies over there.

JLS are just as much nobodies in America as Cheryl and Alex and i'm sure Epic are deadly serious about Alex having signed her for 3.5 million.

lol at the guy saying jls are somebodies.... and alex aint.
i think alex will do better then jls.......... jls cant even sing live..... or perform very well, unlike alex. anyway why do people always have to compare alex and jls? there off the same show? noone cares.... there 2 different artists and will both have massive sucess. and mate, you need to sort yourself out, comparing cheryl to the likes of alex? alex is in a diff league to cheryl.... voice/performance wise. (even though i love cheryl) |

Cool, when Alex/Cheryl get a spot on the Z100 playlist between Lady Gaga and Justin Bieber (can't stand him but his popular) having an expected duet with Rihanna/Beyonce - call me.
JLS's single has been sent to radio for rotation, Alex and Cheryl's haven't, so I'm not sure what your point is. And Alex has already had a duet with Beyonce.

The only reasons JLS have been successful over here with their first album are purely because of the hype off the back of being on X Factor, the army of schoolgirl fans they picked up from the show, and of course the quite unbelievable amount of tv and radio coverage they've got because of who they are.
In the US they can't use the advantage of the X Factor hype, but their label has obviously seen a lot of marketability in them to sell records because of their image. It's not as if people are wanting to work with them because of their music credentials or anything like that, there just hasn't been a typical manufactured young boyband aimed at schoolgirls like JLS for a while, so now there's that gap in the market, they seem the ideal package to fill that gap - and you ensure that by hooking them up with renowned producers to give them the tunes to sell to the kids that buy into it in order to make them look much better than they actually are. |

The only one of the three you mentioned who is not a 'nobody' over there is Cheryl, who has some kind of recognition, albeit small. She is the one most likely to break the US.

So whos more likely to break the US at the moment? Alex and Cheryl should have by now they've been poorly managed.X Factor doesn't count. |

Cheryl isn't going to go the US this year because she doesn't have the time or the material to do it at the moment. It's got nothing to do with being poorly managed, she's starting her European arena tour with the BEP (which wasn't expected to happen) from the middle of April until June and then she has The X Factor again until December. She really only has (or rather had) the first 3 months of the year free, and then the whole cheating thing didn't exactly help.
They've been spending time with her in Europe and Australia instead, where she can fly back and forth, you can't really do that with the US. She has performances in Norway, the Netherlands and then Germany on April the 8th, 9th and 10th. JLS aren't bothering with that so obviously they can spend time on cracking America. And Cheryl's material is too weak, which why she is recording stronger stuff with better producers. Again, it's not bad management, if they had put this effort into the first album it wouldn't have been out in time to cash in on the Christmas sales. Alex's material is alright but like with Cheryl Syco are getting her a name in Europe first. However I believe Alex's first single is being sent to US radio in April |
