Song Suggestions

They can be suggestions for specific Dorothys or just songs with lyrics which may in some way relate to Dorothy's character and help us to decide whether or not the Dorothy in question would be able to pull off the role

I think they'll sing a moxture of MT songs and pop songs with meaningful lyrics, and two pop songs I think would suit Dorothy would be Umbrella, because of the friendship link and also the connection between umbrella/rain/rainbow...and Don't Stop Believin' because Dorothy's a small town girl...and because she and her friends all have what they are looking for, they just need to keep believing!

I'm supporting Stephanie Davis, so I'd love for her to sing one or both of these at some point, especially Don't Stop Believin' (though not too Glee please!) as she could throw in some of her fancy footwork to it!

As for MT songs, Under Attack from Mamma Mia would be great - one of my favourite ABBA songs, but quite an obscure one, from Sophie's nightmare, so would fit in with Dorothy's fear at the start of the story.

That's kind of a pop song as well, but it's used in MT now and probably best known through appearing in Mamma Mia!

The right pop songs and more current MT songs will help us to find the edgy, contemporary Dorothy we seem to be after, although I think it's Steph D!

How about I Feel Pretty (West Side Story) as a happy Dorothy song? I sang this with a friend and a teaching assistant in a college MT variety show - it was tough but great fun!

The problem with picking songs from other musicals is, they all tell other stories, which won't necessarily help us to see the girls getting into Dorothy's character, but I'm sure there are plenty of suitable ones knocking around

Hope you all like my ideas, would love to hear some of yours!
