Maybe times when there's been football? 1998?

There's been the odd Sunday episode too for special weeks eg. Carol finding out about Dan and Bianca's affair. Saskia was killed on a Sunday if I remember rightly.

EastEnders was defo two half hour episodes tonight. You could clearly tell where the duff duff would have gone and the next episode started, just like the Christmas Day episode and unlike the hour long episode last November or April which were hour long episodes.

I wonder if we will see a slight increase for The Bill in tomorrow's ratings figures? The news of its axe could have made more viewers tune in out of curiosity to see what the quality of the show is like now and the reasons why ITV may have possibly axed it. It could hit 5m possibly.

I watched tonight's episode and I'm gutted that ITV have axed it. I believe it was the wrong decision actually. Tonight's episode was really good drama and by axing it, ITV will only replace it with another crime drama, so what's the point in axing The Bill? They may as well work with what they have, bring in a new producer and new writers, change the show and promote it to win back lost viewers. There's no point scrapping it altogether, if they are just going to start a new show from scratch which will belong to the same genre!

I did read somewhere that ITV were planning a replacement for The Bill and it was a crime show... I read it on here somewhere.

The only thing I've heard about a 'replacement' is the new medical drama they've commissioned.

Laura Mackie said she's keen to commission more non-crime drama but as always crime drama is an easier sell and audiences will flock to it quicker.

Yeh it was posted on here and then PJ Millar used it for a story, medical drama called "Monroe".

I havent heard of any crime show. Maybe he was just getting mixed up with somthing else.

It was a new crime drama starring Stephen Tomkinson called DCI Banks: Aftermath. Its posted on DS somewhere but I may have got confused as it's a two part crime drama it seems, so it can't be replacing The Bill, though The Sun said it was going to replace it

However, I think they should just try improving The Bill and its ratings, instead of pumping more money in more two part crime dramas. They already have Whitechapel and Above Suspicion as returning one offs.

DCI Banks: Aftermath has been in the mixer for a while, and is ITV's latest attempt at a new detective show.

It depends whether ITV have decided to have the channel reported separately. The majority of broadcasters have their simulcast HD numbers included in the SD viewing figures.

If this is the case then there could be a 'slight' increase in numbers.

I've only had "exclusives" from STV's Rob Woodward, who I interviewed a few months back, which was quite interesting.

Apart from that, nothing of note yet.

Monroe is the UK's version of House, and I think it will be a pathetic one at that. Most of ITV's copycats seem to be...unfortunately.

if there is any justice it should be a good rating, for a good episode, ive found the 9pm episodes to be of good quality., its a shame the show has been axed.

Also not drama, but ITV's recommissioned 'Lion Country' with a new 12x30min series even though only 3 of the 6 episodes of the current series have aired. They must have been really impressed with the ratings so far for it.

Gosh seems execs are really impressed by lots of low ratings these days, first Ultimate Toons now this both 3-4m ratings, weird

For a program like Lion Country though, which would typically be against the soaps or in a not good slot, 3-4m isn't too bad.

Lion Country's rated quite well for an ITV factual programme: 4.4m average so far. It's been given a good slot though (Wednesday 7:30pm), so a higher than normal factual show average should be expected. I agree about Ultimate Movie Toons - that was definitely a below par rating for the slot.

The Football really affected the other 4 channels last night, some of the poorest figures in a long time.The hour EastEnders was dented by the Football it seems and Emmerdale was dented massively by EastEnders. Had Emmerdale ran from 19:00 to 20:00, the result might have been different.

Coronation Street was also affected, and The Bill I think we can safely say is going out on a limp. HIGNFY is the only thing that really did well last night excluding the Football, really.

I guess expecting people to tune in on mass 6 days after it was axed was unlikely.

Those ratings seem poor for Emmerdale.

Bad night everywhere, still surprised by the low ratings for that 2nd Emmerdale episode.

Decent night for BBC1: the EastEnders rating is its lowest this year but I suspect the 30-min clash against Emmerdale and Five's really good performance with the football dented it. MasterChef rated as we expected, and a pretty good start for HIGNFY - very similar to how it was rating on Fridays.

ITV1 suffered due to the EastEnders hour long episode which really dented the 2nd Emmerdale, and like a few weeks ago the Liverpool match must've taken a few viewers away from Corrie and The Bill. Last week's rating of The Bill was a fluke, up against some of the poorest competition it couild possibly face. It was always going to fall to ~3.5m last night, what with Liverpool playing on Five and better rating programmes on BBC1.
