Do you think Junior Apprentice will be successful? I'm really not expecting it to do great, maybe 4-5m if it's very lucky, but I wouldn't expect it to pull in numbers anything like the original. Will be interesting to see.

Of the new stuff on offer from ITV1 I think 71 degrees North has the best chance of being a success. I think that could do very well, and I would actually watch it myself if it was ordinary people, don't get the celeb obsession at all Still I know I'm in the minority, (I watched Modern Masters on Sunday night, AND ?I really liked it, what do I know? )

Looks like this week's edition of 'Have I Got News for You' has been bumped to Friday at 8:30pm. QI has been scheduled in its slot instead. Not surprised really given how political HIGNFY is.

With four million homes (15% of the UK) now having access to BBCHD/ITV1 HD, the simulcast figures are surprisingly low.

Why does it take the BBC longer than the people in this thread to work these things out?

If a 90-minute programme such as Inspector George Gently, replaces Antiques Roadshow on May 16th, the arts programme could find itself in a 9.30pm slot, without providing an opportunity for anyone to sling mud at the BBC.

1.5m for a long-haired arty show is not as bad as 1.5m for what was conceived as a popular drama i.e The Prisoner.

Good job Modern Masters wasn't around last autumn, though, or people would have been campaigning for it to run against The X Factor on Saturday nights.

Credit to Live From Studio Five. Jason Farrell's exclusive report on the internet child groomer who works as a youth consultant was an excellent piece of investigative journalism. Anything which increases awareness about this kind of thing can only be a good thing, and I assume Live From Studio Five attracts a fair few young viewers. It was sensitively handled on the programme and was given a fair amount of coverage amidst the usual guff like Jedward.

The report has since made the top story on Sky News as well, but Jason primarily works for Five News as Crime Correspondent.

That's not exclusive then, is it?

I imagine someone higher-up in BBC told the BBC One schedulers that scheduling that on Thursday, 8:55pm just before the polls close is not a good idea

Have I Got Election News for You. I'm going to guess that this will either a) be live or b) be recorded a few hours earlier.

Yeah, it would have rated better at 9pm, but the BBC wanted to do a full-length news programme at the usual 10pm because of the election campaign.

It's being recorded at 9.30am on Friday morning according to the tickets site.

Well it was carried out by a Five journalist. Sky News has a separate team but they do share resources from time to time.

They're showing a Come Dine With Me special with politicians and a journalist in the 9pm hour. Pretty clever actually as it'll have been recorded in advance so the election won't be mentioned a great deal if at all but it'll still be relevant. You Have Been Watching will also have an election special during the evening.


A better idea would have been to have two editions this week, and used the Thursday episode to discuss non-election matters and had the Friday episode as a bonus election special. At least they'll be able to discuss it this week, though.

Remember though the Americans are used to that, but obviously to us it makes much more sense to at least run the blocks of new episodes (Fall, Winter, Spring) back to back.



I'm sure it was ready considering they're on tour this month so will pretty much have wrapped up filming before the back nine aired. I think it was more Idol pushing it back in the schedules.

I'd have thought with Idol wrapping two weeks before Glee is due to they'd show the last two episodes back to back the next week. Next year though if Glee does have 13 episodes in the second half of the season I'd say the best option is to move them to Wednesdays and pair up with the results show, or if it remains on Tuesdays they'll probably split the 13 into two blocks and air one block before the Idol live shows begin and the final block around the same time as this year.

They should have done Come Dine With Me with the 3 main leaders plus one other

It'll be interesting to see how this fares against Corrie. If it does quite well it might be scheduled in this slot all the time in the autumn. I wonder if it'll provide a boost for Ashes To Ashes this week.

Not bad at all for the World Snooker Final - it was the worst final in years yet the average was just 0.2m down from last year's. The late finish dented the average as just when the match finished, the audience was down to 1.6m. I'm sure usually the climax of a final after midnight rates higher than that but I'm not surprised it was at that level last night due to the poor quality on show.

The two Countryside shows did well yesterday. Countryfile's got a great core audience and seems to do well in any slot it's placed in. Countrywise - although inferior to the BBC1 version - has been a great addition to the schedule for ITV1 in a difficult slot. I think last night's episode might've been the show's highest rated one ever. Moving Tonight over to Thursdays seems to have paid off, with this and The Lakes rating better.

Inspector George Gently rated a tad lower than I expected, but I suppose it doesn't really matter - the BBC wouldn't have been expecting big numbers for it. It was just a repeat filler. Gently repeats really well for a show which gets about 5.5m on original airing; about 65% of the original audience tunes into the repeats (of course most probably aren't the same viewers). Compare that to Waking The Dead and Silent Witness which get about 45% of their original audiences for the repeats. It's always useful to have shows like this to rely on (when Old Tricks isn't already there!) to fill odd slots in the schedule.

Joanna Lumley's been one of the bright spots in ITV's otherwise pretty dire Spring schedule. I don't think it's quite up there with how Martin Clunes' docs rated but of course for a factual programme on ITV1 it's rated brilliantly. ITV ought to give her another travelogue series if she's available. FlashForward's leveled out at 1.5m in the last few weeks for Five which is okay as there was always a chance it could continue falling to under 1m. I agree with Jonwo that they'll probably pick up a procedural next year.

Another slight drop for Glee - maybe the novelty is wearing off? The C4 repeats are rating poorly nowadays (only 0.6m last Friday) and if we look at overall reach, it's not really doing that much better than Desperate Housewives which is in its sixth season. Goes without saying, though, that it's still a mega-hit for E4.

I notice BBC aired the promo for In It to Win It 2012 before The One Show earlier tonight. I am sure they never aired any promos for that show for a good four/five years. Looks like the Beeb are not going to rollover against BGT.

The Beeb are out to win Saturday primetime despite BGT and the Lottery is a great show to dump against it. BGT is still getting whopping figures but its Suboless shows this year are getting some negativity and as has been many times repeated, ITV is not taking advantage of its pulling power.
