Yes I agree, they have stuck by their guns schedulewise and have a stable Saturday night, with drama, gamshow, talentshow and more drama. They've won all but 2 Saturdays this year, and we all expected OTR to be quashed in the last two weeks but BBC1s Saturday night line up is doing really well and beating ITV despite BGTs success.
Then it all collapsed Sunday swings and roundabouts!

The late finish dented the average as just when the match finished, the audience was down to 1.6m. I'm sure usually the climax of a final after midnight rates higher than that but I'm not surprised it was at that level last night due to the poor quality on show.

The two Countryside shows did well yesterday. Countryfile's got a great core audience and seems to do well in any slot it's placed in. Countrywise - although inferior to the BBC1 version - has been a great addition to the schedule for ITV1 in a difficult slot. I think last night's episode might've been the show's highest rated one ever. Moving Tonight over to Thursdays seems to have paid off, with this and The Lakes rating better.

Inspector George Gently rated a tad lower than I expected, but I suppose it doesn't really matter - the BBC wouldn't have been expecting big numbers for it. It was just a repeat filler. Gently repeats really well for a show which gets about 5.5m on original airing; about 65% of the original audience tunes into the repeats (of course most probably aren't the same viewers). Compare that to Waking The Dead and Silent Witness which get about 45% of their original audiences for the repeats. It's always useful to have shows like this to rely on (when Old Tricks isn't already there!) to fill odd slots in the schedule.

Joanna Lumley's been one of the bright spots in ITV's otherwise pretty dire Spring schedule. I don't think it's quite up there with how Martin Clunes' docs rated but of course for a factual programme on ITV1 it's rated brilliantly. ITV ought to give her another travelogue series if she's available. FlashForward's leveled out at 1.5m in the last few weeks for Five which is okay as there was always a chance it could continue falling to under 1m. I agree with Jonwo that they'll probably pick up a procedural next year.

Another slight drop for Glee - maybe the novelty is wearing off? The C4 repeats are rating poorly nowadays (only 0.6m last Friday) and if we look at overall reach, it's not really doing that much better than Desperate Housewives which is in its sixth season. Goes without saying, though, that it's still a mega-hit for E4.”

I was one of the 1.6 million and to be honest Im surprised it was that high. Maybe the Higgins bombshell provided a bit of impetus because the actual matchplay was some of the worst Snooker I have ever seen. It was arguably a good job that Dott was so tired he could hardly get out of his seat because the match could have gone on for another 5 frames which would have taken it onto 3am. The only fluency in the whole session came when Robertson was actually over the winning line.
An interesting fortnight did not get the final it deserved and the BBC will have to look at starting the play an hour earlier next time around.

Yes the snooker final was dull, I have to be honest I went to bed, as simply could not watch the last few frames, tedious beyond belief. Disappointing end to what's been a good tournament despite the controversy.

Shock, horror - Have I Got News For You has moved. It's taken BBC1 long enough to realise the issue (as Cent said earlier). The Election Special could be interesting - especially if the result is so close that even at 9.30am Friday morning it's not certain.

Yesterday was good for the soaps - poor for Inspector George Gently which was just an example of bad scheduling. The Nile did ok, and shows the benefit of the Monday slot on ITV1 compared to the rest of the week.

In It to Win It is the Dale Winton one.

Unless I've misunderstood what you meant.

I think they might have advertised it before.

Edit: Failed in my attempt to find an old advert, but did find this rehearsal footage of a lottery draw which is quite interesting...

They always advertise it on Saturday evenings before the show is aired but I think it's been since 2005 or 2006 they actually aired any promos in the main week.

does anyone know what ratings Hollyoaks got?

and also 2.64m (11.1%) is terrible for The Bill - ITV deserve kicking for letting the ratings get this low by putting it in this slot

Really low. The only positive I can think of is Five should at least get good numbers for the repeat run.

I love how it was a flop on a Thursday compared to what it had at 8pm yet moving it to Tuesday has done the real pummeling into the ground but I can't help feel this is what they wanted. At least now they really can justify axing it.

The BBC have a really strong lineup there. A very good rating for Eastenders and Holby City's highest share since July last year. Glad to see the Holby City lead-in put to good use, Luther looks like it is real hit, I hope it can maintain over 5.5m.

Strange choices - both are safe seats. Although perhaps these are just being used as anchor locations. The real interest in Northern Ireland will be in Ballymena and Enniskillen.

i think im wrong its a lot more than that as all 3 regions are getting their own election night.

The numbers are confusing me.
BBC ones main feed has 90 outside broadcasts + 16 regional hubs. Beebs budget is supposed to be 10m for the 20 hour broadcast planned.

And another 56,000 on the HD simulcast.

I can't believe with 15% of the UK population now having access to ITV HD, their figures are so low!!

Yes, I love that it's approaching Primetime Comedy/Drama!

Monday: Eastenders/Inspector George Gently (2 hours)
Tuesday: Eastenders/Holby City/Luther (2 1/2 hours)
Wednesday: Waterloo Road/Motorway Cops (1 hour)
Thursday: Eastenders/Watchdog/QI/Outnumbered (1 1/2 hours)
Friday: Eastenders/HIGNFY/Ashes to Ashes (2 hours)

That's an average of 1.8 hours of primetime comedy/drama per day.
9 hours of primetime comedy/drama over the working week.
9 hours 45 minutes of primetime comedy/drama over the week.

Just to be touchy, I'd be inclined to move Doctor Who to Friday at 7:30pm and Eastenders at 8pm; but to save both shows from lower ratings, moving them both to Mondays might be better.

Schedule
19:00 The One Show
19:30 Doctor Who
20:30 Eastenders
21:00 Ashes To Ashes

Preferred Schedule
19:00 The One Show
19:30 Eastenders
20:00 Doctor Who
21:00 Ashes To Ashes
