Let's hope once Big Brother is out of the way C4 set out to reclaim Fridays - and indeed with Jonathan Ross out of the way there is no excuse not to put shows like Alan Carr: Chatty Man back in the Friday slot too.

I think they should consider giving Alan Carr a nightly chat show at 10pm (using the traditional 3 live, 2 recorded format) which could help prop up the schedules each night if promoted properly. They need a new live flagship reality format for Friday nights (Hell's Kitchen in the USA format with Gordon Ramsey would be a very good bet, providing ITV no longer want the brand) and they should promote Glee to Channel 4 for Friday nights. The Cleveland Show could be good for the late Friday slot (around 11pm) cashing in on Family Guy. It hasn't really taken off on E4 yet. They also need to start their Friday night schedule at 8pm even if its just as basic as repeating The Simpsons. Channel 4 desperately need to go back to being young and edgy instead of trotting out documentary after documentary. |

If this is about BGT, all children (under 18) have to be out of the studio by 10pm, or ITV get fines.
![]() ![]() Of course, there'd be another solution: don't put any annoying kids through to the knockout stages.

If the BBC had any sense (and we all know they don't) they'd be getting a full rerun of the first and second series into the schedules before the next series - I'm sure I'm not the only one who's got into this in series 3 - and for me that's unusual. Generally if I miss series 1, episode 1, I'm never tempted to tune into latter episodes.

Outnumbered finishes next Thursday. HIGNFY runs for a further two weeks after that. Witht he world cup on the way I imagine the BBC would want to fill the gap with repeats. I reckon they'll opt for a couple of earlier Outnumbered's.

Ah, a programme that because its ratings were so poor in primetime now airs new episodes at 10.35pm. Good scheduling, that is, it'll really put up a fight against BGT.
So we pretty much have most of the 9pm slots confirmed not for BGT week if things stay in place: Monday-High Street Dreams- sub 2m Tuesday-Luther- down to around 4/4.5m I reckon. Wednesday-Junior Apprentice- we saw last week what tough competition does to it, so perhaps sub 4m? Thursday-HIGNFY/WILTY-HIGNFY around 4m and WILTY around 2m. Friday-??? And if BGT starts running from 8pm then stuff like Waterloo Road is going to get crushed. It appears BGT should have an easy time and the strongest BBC schedule seems to be Tuesday and ITV never rate well on Tuesdays anyway. |

Kids are never usually on the Monday/Friday episodes because of that rule. It's also part of the reason for X Factor age limit being put back up to 16- in series 5 not all contestants could appear on Xtra Factor.
I always thought it was never in the kids interest when Diversity won something as a unit to send the under 16's off immediately while their friends and colleagues could be on ITV2 celebrating together. |

I don't want to open an old can of worms again, but did we ever hear anything on a second series of Married,Single,Other? They said it would just be a couple of weeks before the decsion was made at the end of the first series, and it's now been at least 6 weeks.

Apart from Monday, what an extremely poor week for the soaps.
I just checked how the soaps did on the equivalent night last year, and both EE and Emmerdale are on par which is okay I suppose. Corrie's struggling in the overnights but it tends to get a hefty timeshift these days. |

I note from the many reports about Law and Order ending after 20 series that they all say that it would have become the longest running show in prime time TV history (beating Gunsmoke) had it got its expected final series,
No mention that this is 'US' TV history as in the UK both The Bill and Casualty have run for longer. Anyone know what show really holds the global record (English Language)? As the cancellation came after they had filmed the last Law and Order episode there is talk of wrapping up the characters in one of the surviving shows - the ongoing Law and Order: SVU or the fourth US spin off series Law and Order: Los Angeles. |

Friday 14th May Roundup
BBC One 13:00- BBC News at One: 2.5m (35.5%) 13:30- Regional News and Weather: 2.7m (36.5%) 18:00- BBC News at Six: 4.2m (25.0%) 18:30- Regional News and Weather: 5.3m (29.7%) 19:00- The One Show: 4.0m (21.2%) 19:30- A Question of Sport: 3.8m (18.2%) 20:00- EastEnders: 7.9m (36.2%) 20:30- QI: 3.5m (15.5%) 21:00- Ashes to Ashes: 5.0m (22%), inc. HD: 5.2m (22.8%) 22:00- BBC News at Ten: 4.8m (23.6%) 22:35- Friday Night with Jonathan Ross: 3.3m (23.1%) BBC Two [inc. HD] 20:30- Gardeners' World: 2.2m ( 9.9%) ITV1 [inc. HD] 18:00- Regional News: 2.6m (15.7%) 18:30- ITV News & Weather: 3.0m (16.8%) 19:00- Emmerdale: 6.2m (32.6%) 19:30- Coronation Street: 7.7m (37.0%) 20:00- Dickinson's Real Deal: 3.0m (13.7%) 20:30- Coronation Street: 7.5m (33.4%) 21:00- Marco's Kitchen Burnout: 2.5m (10.8%) Channel 4 21:00- Embarrassing Bodies: Kids: 2.4m (10%) --------------------------- Ashes to Ashes did well last night. If there is some promotion for the final episode, it should hopefully be able to get 5.5-6m next week. Marco's Kitchen Burnout has been rising in the last couple of weeks but it's still at very poor levels. Corrie's share at 7:30pm is really low (it should be around 40% really), |

List of past FA Cup Final ratings, for referencing tomorrow:
2009: Chelsea 2 Everton 1 Programme - 13:00 to 17:30: 3.6m (42.4%) - Match: 5.4m (54.0%) - Peak: 6.8m (56.9%) @ 16:50 2008: Portsmouth 1 Cardiff 0 Programme - 12:50 to 17:30: 5.0m (41.1%) - Match: 7.3m - Peak: 8.2m (51.8%) @ 16:30 2007: Chelsea 1 Manchester United 0 Programme - 12:40 to 18:00: 7.0m (53.7%) - Match: 9.7m (62.6%) [15:00 to 17:30] - Peak: 11.5m (65.3%) @ 17:15 2006: Liverpool 3 West Ham United 3 (Liverpool won 3-1 on pens) Programme - 13:00 to 18:00: 6.5m (51.9%) - Match: 8.8m (62.0%) [15:00 to 17:45] - Peak: 11.3m (64.7%) @ 17:30 2005: Arsenal 0 Manchester United 0 (Arsenal won 5-4 on pens) Programme - 13:00 to 18:10: 7.3m (50.5%) - Match: 9.9m (61.0%) [15:00 to 18:00] - Peak: 12.8m (67.1%) @ 17:30 2004: Manchester United 3 Millwall 0 Programme - 13:00 to 17:30: 4.3m (44.0%) - Match: 6.3m (55.0%) - Peak: 6.8m 2003: Arsenal 1 Southampton 0 Programme - 12:10 to 17:20: 5.3m (44.4%) - Match: 8.3m - Peak: 9.7m (55.7%) @ 16:50 2002: Arsenal 2 Chelsea 0 - Programme - 12:10 to 17:25: 4.1m (43.0%) ----- I'd like to think that today's game will get higher than 3.6 million for the entire program considering the weather last year was scorching hot on FA Cup Final day. As for yesterday, the only thing that appears to be worth noting is Burnout improving... again. Why? |

That does make me lol slightly. How can a Chelsea Everton match be so much lower than a Portsmouth Cardiff dream match? Answer: ITV.
Edit: Scrap that. Just noticed BBC1's coverage in 2002 and 2003 started about 1 hour earlier than ITV1's which must've dented their average! Yes, the BBC1-->ITV1 factor is a big one: I nearly forgot the FA Cup Final was today !
