Channel 4 should go back to their old model imo and they should be using the last series of Big Brother to try and implement that because it gets higher ratings.
I think they should consider giving Alan Carr a nightly chat show at 10pm (using the traditional 3 live, 2 recorded format) which could help prop up the schedules each night if promoted properly. They need a new live flagship reality format for Friday nights (Hell's Kitchen in the USA format with Gordon Ramsey would be a very good bet, providing ITV no longer want the brand) and they should promote Glee to Channel 4 for Friday nights. The Cleveland Show could be good for the late Friday slot (around 11pm) cashing in on Family Guy. It hasn't really taken off on E4 yet. They also need to start their Friday night schedule at 8pm even if its just as basic as repeating The Simpsons.
Channel 4 desperately need to go back to being young and edgy instead of trotting out documentary after documentary.

Kids are never usually on the Monday/Friday episodes because of that rule. It's also part of the reason for X Factor age limit being put back up to 16- in series 5 not all contestants could appear on Xtra Factor.

Outnumbered finishes next Thursday. HIGNFY runs for a further two weeks after that. Witht he world cup on the way I imagine the BBC would want to fill the gap with repeats. I reckon they'll opt for a couple of earlier Outnumbered's.

Monday-High Street Dreams- sub 2m
Tuesday-Luther- down to around 4/4.5m I reckon.
Wednesday-Junior Apprentice- we saw last week what tough competition does to it, so perhaps sub 4m?
Thursday-HIGNFY/WILTY-HIGNFY around 4m and WILTY around 2m.

Gosh according to those numbers, even against BGT BBC1 will do better at 9pm than ITV does when it has no competition.

It's not become law yet but after the last BGT and the fiasco with Holly Steel there was an inquiry of some sort into these rules and it was pretty much agreed they needed relaxing and rules set in place in the sixties weren't appropriate now.
I always thought it was never in the kids interest when Diversity won something as a unit to send the under 16's off immediately while their friends and colleagues could be on ITV2 celebrating together.

I fear I must point out to people on this thread YET AGAIN (
) that it is not the BBC's job to try and damage ITV. "ITV are screening a whole week of one of their biggest ratings juggernauts. We must spend half of BBC1's annual budget to destroy it and kill off ITV <evil laugh>"When they know ITV are screening such a massive ratings winner it makes sense to ease off the gas and save their own ratings winners for when the competition is weaker.
I don't want to open an old can of worms again, but did we ever hear anything on a second series of Married,Single,Other? They said it would just be a couple of weeks before the decsion was made at the end of the first series, and it's now been at least 6 weeks.

ITV are having a meeting about it this week to decide its fate, Wednesday to be precise. They've taken their time, but they usually do as we've seen with how long it took them to renew Whitechapel and Benidorm even though they were easy decisions! If it's recommissioned, filming will start in October. I'm now not sure if it will be after the successes of Joanna Lumley's Nile and Wormwood Scrubs which have rated better in the same slot and must be much cheaper.

Yeah, it looks like the summer slump for the soaps is starting to kick in. The scheduling and tougher competition on Monday has sent EE down to its worst rated week in months but it might improve next week.
I just checked how the soaps did on the equivalent night last year, and both EE and Emmerdale are on par which is okay I suppose. Corrie's struggling in the overnights but it tends to get a hefty timeshift these days.
I note from the many reports about Law and Order ending after 20 series that they all say that it would have become the longest running show in prime time TV history (beating Gunsmoke) had it got its expected final series,
No mention that this is 'US' TV history as in the UK both The Bill and Casualty have run for longer.
Anyone know what show really holds the global record (English Language)?

Very good to see it slowly add the extra 0.1 each week or so. Its timeshift has been very good aswell, hopefully next weeks finale can bring in a few more viewers.

Also the weather was a problem. Last year's FA Cup Final share was similar to the 2002-2004 finals, which all involved either Man Utd or Arsenal.
Edit: Scrap that. Just noticed BBC1's coverage in 2002 and 2003 started about 1 hour earlier than ITV1's which must've dented their average! Yes, the BBC1-->ITV1 factor is a big one: I nearly forgot the FA Cup Final was today
