no update re: BBC1/C4 top progs for this week
I can't believe they won't be updated, not for such mainstream channels as ever when I hear something I'll let you know

Britain's Got Talent is launching 2000-2130. The Prisoner plays 2130-2230.
Also BBC Two to repeat the Sky News Election debate on the same night after Newsnight on Thursday 22nd April. Quote:

What would you have put against BGT?
17:50 Total Wipeout 18:50 Over The Rainbow 20:00 Who Dares Wins 20:50 Casualty 21:40 Over The Rainbow: Results with the Sunday schedule of: 18:15 Countryfile 19:15 Doctor Who 20:00 Antiques Roadshow As ITV have moved back half an hour. But safer scheduling like this doesn't seem to interest the BBC. |

BBC1 schedule confirmed:
17:30 Total Wipeout 18:30 Doctor Who 19:15 Over The Rainbow 20:25 Who Dares Wins 21:15 Casualty So just a 25 minute clash. It could be a lot worse for Dorothy. However, the results show remains at 18:15, where it will flounder. It also means that Countryfile and Survival will be head to head, which is ridiculous. |

Recommissioning Waterloo Road so far in advance is a risk. There are major cast changes at the end of this series with long running favourites leaving, so in 30 episodes time when the just commissioned series starts, the show and it's ratings could be very different.

But alas, the best they can probably do now IMO would perhaps be:
6.05pm Over the Rainbow 7.15pm Doctor Who 7.55pm Who Dares Wins 8.45pm Comedy repeat, Live at the Apollo. etc. 9.15pm Casualty They are certainly trying to cram too much in. I'd have gone for something similar to you... 5.15pm Total Wipeout 6.15pm Over the Rainbow 7.25pm Doctor Who 8.10pm Who Dares Wins 9pm Casualty 9.50pm News 10pm Match of the Day Only tens mins overlap between Doctor Who and Britain's Got Talent. |

I thought it had been agreed beforehand that they would all make their debates available to other broadcasters.
And will the BBC rerun the ITV one? That's quite interesting. |

So do Sky News get the BBC/ITV ones?
And will the BBC rerun the ITV one? That's quite interesting. I think the only difference is ITV won't make their transmission available to other broadcasters until after it's been aired (but will make it available simultaneously online and to radio), but the BBC and Sky will make it available simultaneously to everyone. |

Just realised it's not possible for Five to simulcast the Sky News debate due to Europa League football taking place that night.
I will try to find out if they are taking the election night programme. Sky might as well offer it as it will only be in HD via Sky. |

I think Total Wipeout can only start at 5.15pm at earliest due to Final Score.

The ten minute overlap would cost Dr Who about 2 million viewers. No thank you.
Plus, being on later would give it higher ratings than if it were on at 6.15pm or 6.30pm. I think most people would keep watching Doctor Who - they wont care about missing the first few minutes of Britain's Got Talent - if they even remembered it was starting. |

I'd do this:
17:50 Total Wipeout 18:50 Over The Rainbow 20:00 Who Dares Wins 20:50 Casualty 21:40 Over The Rainbow: Results with the Sunday schedule of: 18:15 Countryfile 19:15 Doctor Who 20:00 Antiques Roadshow As ITV have moved back half an hour. Maybe 2m views for those 10 minutes, averaged out the impact would be small.

Still wouldn't put it against BGT though. |

Yet more stupid ludicrous/stupid BBC scheduling. Watchdog returns on Thursday 22nd April at 20:00 to 21:00, yet will either have to be shortened or moved the following week due to the final Election Debate.
Oh dear. |

US Ratings - Tuesday April 6th
ABC:
8pm - Dancing With The Stars - 12.30m (2.4) 9pm - Lost - 9.45m (3.8) 10pm - V - 6.02m (2.5) CBS: 8pm - NCIS - 16.02m (3.4) 9pm - NCIS:LA - 13.65m (2.9) 10pm - The Good Wife - 12.02m (2.4) FOX: 8pm - American Idol - 20.40m (7.1) NBC: 8pm - The Biggest Loser - 7.57m (2.9) 10pm - Parenthood - 6.33m (2.6) http://tvbythenumbers.com/2010/04/07...struggle/47653 Not the best night for CBS. NCIS is down just slightly from the same night last year but NCIS:LA is 19% lower than The Mentalist in that slot last year and The Good Wife is 11% below what Without A Trace had. For a Tuesday night of original programming, it was CBS' worst night of the season with all its shows at season lows. American Idol was 18% down from last year to its lowest Tuesday rating of this series. 7 of the last 8 Tuesday episodes have declined from the previous week. For the second week in a row, Idol will lose to Dancing With The Stars in total viewers. DWTS Monday show had 21.2m. Next week, Idol is reduced to 88 minutes as FOX extends its primetime hours to run Glee at 9.28pm. From that point onwards, Idol will be 60 minutes with Glee running from 9-10pm. FOX have promoted its return heavily, including an Oprah appearance from the cast. Parenthood was one of the few shows to improve from last week. To beat CBS and ABC in that hour is quite a boost for NBC and Parenthood is holding a good amount of its lead-in despite airing at 10pm (when it's really an 8/9pm show). Everything on ABC was at season or all time lows. The DWTS results are particularly low, finishing last in the 8pm hour among adults 18-49. V continues its decline, much further and it won't be back next year. |

The hardcore Dr Who fans would scream bloody murder if they moved it to Sundays permanently. (Swapping the day/time slot a lot killed the original series.) The BBC would get a load of complaints if they did that. The original RTD written pitch for the series said it has to be on Saturdays.

Little and Large's demise was quite odd because I've heard that one year it was brought back despite the wishes of the light entertainment department as they wanted to axe them but their ratings were too high. I certainly know that in 1990, I read in Fast Forward of all places that they'd been axed, but then a few weeks later, they announced they were coming back. However even at my age, I could tell that the 1991 series had received a massive, massive budget cut and the Beeb's heart wasn't in it. Although oddly they then repeated the previous series in the summer!
In the past, though, you would get special editions of the Generation Game, Bob's Full House or Every Second Counts on Easter Monday, just to make it a bit special. At least it produced a candidate for one of the most bizarre BBC1 trails ever: a joint one for Little and Large and the The Paul Daniels Magic Show which saw Eddie Large singing while dressed as Tina Turner, interspersed with clips of Paul Daniels hitting coconuts with a giant hammer. |
