At least its final will be on a BGT free Saturday.[It'll be against the Champions league final with no english team].

God ITV have had rubbish luck with the Football this year.

Ooh Masterchef is trending worldwide on Twitter

Let's hope Liverpool come up trumps in the Europa League tomorrow else it'll be heartbreak all round.

I wouldnt say bad luck, they have just been very lucky in previous years.

At least they should have been around 8 million tonight.

If they dont get through it will be near national mourning.

Masterchef has been truly compelling stuff-it will certainly be back as they were inviting new contestants. In its perhaps quiet way its seen some of the toughest reality/talent scenarios ever in the last six shows or so.

I can do a decent beans on toast so I might apply

I'm sure I'll survive. Though Fulham are still in the Europa League, and are taking a lead to Wolfsburg.

Shows how much ITV care about Bayern Munich v Lyon - they didn't even mention one leg being on ITV1 post match. They did mention Barcelona v Inter's second leg, though.

ITV1 had a better Tuesday night to normal, with them holding 3m from 7.30pm-9pm. Law and Order doesn't repeat well. Emmerdale, EastEnders and Holby City all seem low.

It's been the best series yet, and the changes they made this year really worked. This weeks programmes were gripping, and what a final, I can't remember such a close contest before, three endearing finalists and a deserved winner. Gonna really miss it now it's over, roll on the Apprentice.

Would explain why '#masterchef' is 5th trending worldwide on Twitter.

Forgot about Fulham to be honest. Can't count them out given their current form!

ITV1 had a better Tuesday night? I would call it a very bad night indeed. Emmerdale was down, Frost documentary could only just get over 3m and they were in 5th or even 6th place during the 9pm hour.

At least they kept above 3m between 7.30-9! Though thinking about it, Children's Hospital has been supporting the 8pm hour slightly better than The Krypton Factor anyway. Law and Order's rating is appalling. As for Emmerdale...EastEnders and Holby were both down as well - and like those two shows the share was ok.

Lol, some of the celebs on the celebrity version couldn't do that. **cough Gemma Atkinson cough**

The winner Dhruv is trending aswell. I wonder what the 16-34s figures are like for Masterchef?

When the biggest commercial network in the UK is logging less than 2m viewers in the most important slot of the day it's hard to find positives with that kind of performance, so I give full credit to Fudd for managing to find some.

I do hope Cowell has a cracking series of BGT lined up...for ITV1's sake.

8pm Tuesday - ITV1 only 2m behind BBC1. OK, that is clutching at straws.

I wonder how The Bill will perform in the slot. It shows how much time has changed. Ten years ago a schedule of:

7.00 Emmerdale
7.30 Children's Hospital
8.00 Who Wants to Be A Millionnaire?
9.00 The Bill

would be seen as a strong schedule guaranteed viewers. Now we're debating if it can average over 4m. TBH I like the pure LOOK of the schedule - at least it's varied. I don't hold up much hope of it performing though. If The Bill can match it's Thursday's rating it'll be seen as a success.

Did Sky Sports also show the Man Utd game? Because they have just shown clips with the caption "Pictures Sky Sports HD (logo)" on Sky News

They've just shown the highlights on Sky Sports 2, but the only match they broadcast live was Bordeaux v Lyon.

Thats so true 10 years ago, they would have gotten 8-10m.
Im predicting around 3.5m for both shows next week.

Two shows that are past their best back-to-back. How novel for a night of the week that also seems to have ran completely out of steam as far as UK TV is concerned. Are Tuesdays now the place shows go to die?

Still, they should at least do better business than recent holders of those slots. I'd fancy an average of around 3.5m for both.

The cast now barely resembles the original cast and the show has changed as it has gone on but still has links to how it was in the beginning. It seems to be a show that the audience adapt to whatever it's like so I don't think they have anything to worry about. It's not like the ratings are anything fantastic to start with either. It seems to have a loyal fanbase and compared to most of the stuff they could put in its slot, Wednesdays being a poor night for BBC1 generally, it's a safe bet.

Thanks - perhaps a mistake, because they showed highlights of that one directly after which carried the same (correct) caption.

The Old People's Home of British television. The thing is the potential is there for a good audience, I'm sure. It's just no channel seems to want to take the initative at 9pm. Obviously, BBC1 do very well pre-watershed.

Around this time 3 years ago Life on Mars was pulling in audiences of around 6m on Tuesdays. ITV1 had a mixture of Champions League matches (6m+, often much higher), Tonight (3-4m+) and Midsomer Murders. (6m+)

So yep definitely potential to have big success on Tuesdays but in 2010 it really is becoming a TV graveyard and the kiss of death for anything new.

Chris Tarrant was on the radio the other day saying that Who Wants to be a Millionaire still gets around 5m viewers. Obviously he was exaggerating, as it hasn't hit those heights for at least a couple of years. Last Autumn, it was getting about 3.5m and because there's been an automatic dip in the ratings in the slot for ITV1 this year, I reckon it'll be down to about 3-3.5m when it returns next week. The Bill will also be down to those levels, without the Corrie lead-in.

Like I said earlier today, ITV should try out a Harry Hill hour in the 8pm slot for a couple of weeks. If it doesn't work out, then slot it back on Saturdays. No harm in experimenting, especially with the 'Best Of' editions.

Very good. Last time I saw the figures, it was over 1m.

I think a Harry Hill hour would just look odd, YBF may still pull in the viewers but at 8pm or 8.30pm on a Tuesday evening? I doubt it.

You've Been Framed would be better at 7.30pm IMO, with TV Burp at 8 (or 8.30pm if You've Been Framed is extended to an hour).
