Must be a typo from Broadcast. The 7-11pm primetime shares for that week were: BBC1- 21.7%, ITV1- 19.5%. So even considering their definition of primetime might be different, there's no way ITV1 could've averaged 29.94% that week.

“BBC are down 0.7% overall this year, ITV 1.2%”

This seems right, however.

Regarding, Corrie being on tonight. I think it was more to do with getting the Goblet of Fire repeat on air before the Order of the Phoenix premiere. GoF apparently can't be aired before 7pm unless they cut bits, so Friday seemed like the only option. In a way it's worked out, as Foyle's War now gets a good lead-in.

I suspect that they will just change the edition of You've Been Framed! to a shorter length one.”

According to Sky Guide they're putting on a shorter episode of Corrie at 7.45- 15 minutes long.

It'll be the highest rated episode this year cos this is the episode with the two 14 year olds having a lesbian kiss, an episode that has been heavily publicised by the pervy newspapers.

I had not heard it was about two girls so young having a kiss.

14? The characters are 16, and the actresses are 18.

So that will be just an advert break then?

It was a masterstroke getting Fiona Bruce to present Antiques Roadshow. Shes just been hurdling-quite a sight!

So, you think a 2 hour Frost/Midsomer repeat from 8-10pm on Friday's would be a a flop? It's been proved time and time again that this isn't the case, drama repeats worked very well for ITV on Friday nights more than any other night for some reason, and will probably help with its ailing budget.

Thursday's were always popular in the 8pm, 9pm hour before ITV moved The Bill, so I don't see it becoming flop zone now unless the channel doesn't replace the soaps.

I see your point of it becoming another Tuesday without a 7:30pm lead-in, but if money's spent on original programmes and we saw the travellogues in the 9pm slot - I think ITV could be onto a winner.

Wednesday has football anyway?!??!?!?

and Monday...well...the Coronation Street at 8:30pm is perfectly fine, and works on this day.”

That's the point - the money isn't there to be spent on original programming at the minute.

I completely agree Frost/Midsomer etc. repeats on Friday would be a wise move and cost effective too, but such a move would probably lead to another post-8pm hour of soaps (on a Tuesday if ITV had any sense) rather than take more out of primetime (8-10pm in this case).

A couple of years ago when ITV were running original entertainment from 5.30pm-11pm on a Saturday they might have been able to move some things into the week (I'd create a comedy hour with TV Burp and some comedy series for example), but lately ITV has been running little more than 2 and a half hours of original content on Saturdays - so really haven't got the budget to be investing during the week either.

I know the backlash one could get from suggesting this, but what about having all the soaps at 8pm to 9pm on ITV?

So Emmerdale at 8pm and Coronation Street at 8:30pm every weeknight except for one night for sport.

That would give a good lead-in for 9pm drama!

It was also crown ITV the dullest commercial television channel in the World.

It might help, but they just gain a problem at 7pm.

that is a good point, what you do between 7pm & 8pm?

I suppose if they did sign Adrian & whats her name, they could do "The ITV 1 Show"

Still as an EE fan, I want to see the show go 8pm on Tuesday & Thursday, so I would be against this move, as it would mean EE having to move to 19:30 on Mondays & Fridays

They could commission a new magazine show for 7pm - the ITV1 Show. Or promote Loose Woman to prime-time.

ITV mucked up for me tonight. They should've strung out the football coverage until 7pm (with Chelsea v Aston Villa highlights, talking to Redknapp/Grant) and then moving ack on schedule with the news, instead of trailing 15 minutes behind for most of the night.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

BBC1 performed well and had a very consistent night last night. Over the Rainbow held up, and shouldn't be too affecetd by Britain's Got Talent as their isn't too much of an overlap next week. Who Dares Wins is another reliable show in the schedule, and Doctor Who performed about as expected considering the weather and the second episode dip.

Does anyone have an overall breakdown of the channels last night - the FA Cup rating is awful but it was such a dull match at the time that Doctor Who started I wonder how many people just decided to switch over.

I don't think it'd make ITV dull - just stable. Quiz shows and documenatries can take the 7pm slot like Millionnaire, The Vault, Poker Face, Duel, Cars Cops and Cameras, The Nile, The Tourist Trail etc. Then drama can stick at 9pm with the soap lead in at 8. Obviously there's a number of episodes issue - logic says that they won't cut any even if I think they should. Therefore I'd say they should go with something like this:

Monday: 7pm Emmerdale; 7.30 and 8.30 Coronation Street
Tuesday: 8pm Coronation Street; 8.30pm Emmerdale
Wednesday: 7pm Emmerdale
Thursday: 7pm and 8.30pm Emmerdale; 8pm Coronation Street
Friday: 7pm Emmerdale; 8.30pm Coronation Street

EastEnders is the main stumbling block. It'd be better to air the soaps constantly but EastEnders at 8pm prevents that, so this might be the next best option.

Over the Rainbow could actually end up winning its slot now that it started 'in line' with ITV's start time, instead of a 15 minute ITV head start.

The best option for me is:

Monday
7.00 Emmerdale
7.30 Coronation Street
8.00 Countrywise etc
8.30 Coronation Street

Tuesday
7.00 Emmerdale
7.30 Tonight
8.00 Emmerdale
8.30 Coronation Street

Wednesday
7.00 Emmerdale
7.30 Football or Documentaries
8.00 Football, Events or New 2 hour Drama

Thursday
7.00 Emmerdale
7.30 Documentaries
8.30 Coronation Street

Friday
7.00 Emmerdale
7.30 Coronation Street
8.00 Drama repeats

Therefore you have Corrie lead-ins and a fairly even Corrie schedule across the week.

It also means EE will never clash with ITV's soaps, if EE need an extra slot they can use Thur at 8 and if Emmerdale needs an extra slot they can use Thur at 8 (obviously not in the same week)

I doubt it, I can't see OTR getting much more than 5-5.5m or so, and the last series of Foyle's War averaged 7.0m. I think Foyle will be down from that, but it should still get a solid 6.5m or so.

Oops. Mind you, ITV may make more money via pay per view.

To their credit, they updated the EPG listing promptly and accurately on the Freeview guide.

I agree plan B could have been better but then ITV are always pretty weak when it comes to implementation.

At one point on the Sky EPG they had the national news at 6.45 with You've Been Framed at 7pm. I was a bit surprised when the Regional News suddenly appeared!

They're not quite as bad as the BBC, who often in such circumstances some how end up moving the bulk of the schedule forward - which is no good to people recording or people tuning in live.

Still no word on when Headcases is returning to ITV1? It was featured in the '2010 entertainment programmes' video on the ITV Media website. I guess with it not being mentioned in the spring/summer press pack, it's returning in Autumn. Will be interesting where they schedule it; the first series mainly aired at Sundays 10pm, but I wouldn't be surprised if it pops up on Saturdays this time round. I enjoyed the first series, but I wasn't expecting them to recommission it as the figures fell throughout the run from about 4m to less than 2m (iirc)!

Also, is Hell's Kitchen definitely axed or is it in the same position as it was after the 2007 series? Started watching the US version recently and I definitely prefer it. It's with normal people and it's sort of like a cooking version of The Apprentice. If the show ever comes back, I hope they go in this direction (though they probably wouldn't be able to get Ramsey) - it could do pretty well once a week post BGT/TXF.

Maybe they'll ditch it in a post football slot during the World Cup? As you say, the ratings became dire in it's first run so maybe they're just planning to use it as filler?

I'd like to see a normal version of Hell's Kitchen too. I think it'd work better than the celebrity version. I think it's on hiatus at the moment. Not axed, but they're going to see how Kitchen Burnout does. I think they need Heston Blumenthal or Jamie Oliver as chef though - I don't think Marco Pierre White has the appeal.
