Any idea what ITV1 will be lining up against the BBC1 debates? Obviously Emmerdale and Coronation Street, but with The Bill seemingly moved to Tuesday's, what's going to take the 9pm slot that night?

Greatest Cities of The World with Griff Rhys Jones I think, as it's starting the week before. So definately an alternative that will probably hold up OK if the debate is a hit.

Blimey, we're racking up the posts tonight!

Anyone got any predictions for Lumley's factual thing? I can't see it rating well and can possibly see another sub 4m for ITV.

Well it's had very good reviews and Lumley's a pretty big name and is probably a 'national treasure' (as much as I hate that phrase), so I think it'll do pretty well, and could even break 5m as it's in the fairly cushy (for ITV) Monday slot, where even Amanda Holden got 4m.

The other thing to consider about the ITV debate is the lack of commercials and what that could mean. Anybody who knows anything about ratings and follows the breakdowns that often get posted will know just how many people actually physically tune out of ITV1 during the breaks or leave the room. Obviously with no ads during the debate there will be a lot less of that going on. (unless it is really dull of course)

I can't see how it's not going to be dull. I mean I will watch but unless you have a massive interest I'm not sure how many are going to stick with it for the duration.

It has a Corrie lead-in though so that should help - but I imagine at best it will start big before falling away.

Also, how is Divided doing this week?
Yeah, I'd like to know how Divided is doing as well. I think it's a great show!
Not well so far. It came fourth in its slot last week, beaten by all terrestrials bar Five. On Tuesday it had 1.2m, while Wednesday-Friday it rated with 1.0m.

Iaindb- you previously asked how Pointless was doing for BBC2. Last week, it had about 1.4m viewers which seems decent for the slot.

I think it can cause problems. If it is 90 minutes of pretty slow, plodding soundbites then no ads will probably drive people away quicker. However the advantages are that viewers wont turn over and forget to turn back etc.

True, there's pros and cons to both really. At least we'll know if people are switching off it's because they're bored.

They should move the final to Sunday teatime I can hear howls of outrage already!
Best way of boosting the FA Cup ratings would be to hand the rights back to the BBC...

Top 20 - Most Watched Shows of 2010 [before w/e 4th April]
01 - 16.41m - EastEnders (BBC1, 19/02)
02 - 12.27m - Doctor Who (BBC1/HD, 01/01)
03 - 12.03m - Coronation Street (ITV1, 22/02)
04 - 10.57m - Gavin and Stacey (BBC1/HD, 01/01)
05 - 09.96m - Emmerdale (ITV1, 14/01, 20:00)

06 - 09.64m - Dancing on Ice (ITV1, 10/01)
07 - 08.81m - Silent Witness (BBC1/HD, 07/01)
08 - 08.79m - A Touch of Frost (ITV1, 04/04)
09 - 08.70m - Rock and Chips (BBC1/HD, 24/01)
10 - 08.55m - Wild at Heart (ITV1, 10/01)

11 - 08.36m - Five Days (BBC1, 01/03)
12 - 08.12m - Boyzone: A Tribute to Stephen Gately (ITV1, 21/03)
13 - 08.06m - Sport Relief (BBC1, 19/03)
14 - 07.98m - Silent Witness (BBC1/HD, 14/01)
15 - 07.91m - The National Television Awards (ITV1, 20/01)

16 - 07.90m - Above Suspicion (ITV1, 04/01)
17 - 07.86m - International Football: England vs Egypt (ITV1, 03/03)
18 - 07.84m - Total Wipeout Celebrity Special (BBC1, 02/01)
19 - 07.67m - Lark Rise to Candleford (BBC1/HD, 10/01)
20 - 07.64m - UEFA Champions League Live (ITV1, 10/03)

BBC ratings include HD if show was shown in HD, and if show got in BBC HD's top 10. Only one programme with the 'same' name.

10 to BBC, 10 to ITV.
Or 11 to 9 if you include the BBC Regional News which got nearly 11m one night in January...

Anyone know where Thursday's debate will be held?
Manchester according to the Telegraph.
Definitely Manchester. I think it's in the Manchester Central conference centre, although no-one seems to be publicising it - but there was a lot of activity going on round there today.

Cheers. At least it's offering something different I guess. I reckon it'll rate around the same as The Bill.

Chris Evans to host the Friday edition of The One Show:

http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/2010...s-bbc-one-show

Apparently it's to be more entertainment based than the rest of the week's show and well run for an hour. It also seems that Chiles will be staying with the programme too, despite what the press might say.

Good move in my opinion. I think the BBC are maybe lining Christine and Chris up for some sort of primetime show together. And I'm guessing Chiles will be glad to get a bit of a break, as he's currently working a six a week (cue calls of "Well he only works half an hour a day anyway").

Thanks rzt. Ouch for Divided! That really is poor, and is hugely below the slot average - a repeat of Titchmarsh got 1.8m there on Monday. The last series averaged around 1.5m iirc, but grew throughout the run, but I don't think it ever went as low as 1.0m. ITV will be glad it's only on for 5 weeks.

Even a show that's seemingly thrown together within 5 minutes like The One Show has a certain amount of prep beforehand.

I don't see the point and Adrian has made it very clear he is not happy about the arrangement.

Grand National did better than initially thought on Saturday peaking at 7.9m with 59.7% share including HD viewers (7.6m SD & 0.3m HD). That peak is only down 1 share point on last year.

I find it intriguing that the Aussies manage to have 3 Australian commercial networks and 2 state networks, when we have four networks, 2 state owned (well, public anyway), 1 British commercial owned and 1 Foreign commercial owned... with rumours of mergers.

Also consider the size of our population.

I may be being stupid, but are TBL's ratings good enough for renewal? Also, I notice The 7pm Project is rising, as is Neighbours

Oh right, I was referring to the last ones I saw, where they were hovering around the awful 400/500k mark.

TBL has really struggled this season. I think the question will be asked since BB was axed and Idol rested with similar figures.

It bows out this Sunday. Last year it had 1.8m for the finale itself and 2.1m for the actual winner announcement. It's really hard to see how it could possibly match that this year.

Still, any disappointment with TBL could be forgotten very quickly if a particular series return is successful next week:

Masterchef Australia
Monday - Week 1

7.30pm – 9pm TEN
Monday 19 April 2010
They applied in their thousands from all across Australia. But just fifty would-be chefs were chosen to come to Sydney with their common dream still intact: To be Australia's next MasterChef. Their first challenge? To take on the good old Aussie BBQ.

Neighbours ratings are kinda confusing at the moment, last week they hit a spike and showed some major growth, however this 601,000 is alot more like the Neighbours ratings of two weeks ago.
