There is now a vacancy Monday to Thursday on the One Show(30 mins per day-good holidays)-any takers? (George S?)

Adrian Chiles is now seemingly the face of Football on ITV for the next three years-where does that leave Steve Rider I wonder.

Astounding really. I thought ITV were destitute.

I presume Chiles move is golden handcuffs, so vacancies on MOTD2 and The Apprentice Your Fired.
The whole episode of bringing in Chris Evans just for Fridays is very peculiar imo and Im not surprised Chiles was miffed. A very strange power struggle
Would seem that himself and Fincham have a very good relationship

Pete Fincham must be breathing a sigh of relief. He sets up a show which competes with Emmerdale - switches channel so it's now giving him a slight headcahe, but lo and behold the BBC decide to muck it up.

Talking of the BBC though and questionable scheduling - the London Marathon next week starts at 8.30am on BBC2, then moved to BBC1 at 10am.

It's Match of the Day and Andrew Marr as usual on BBC1 so I see no reason why they couldn't be shunted to BBC2 as usually happens.

Although they often switched from BBC1 to BBC2 at midday or so after the main elite races, first time I can recall them starting coverage on BBC2. Seems pretty stupid really.
I think this is almost certainly because they want Andrew Marr on BBC1 all the way through the election campaign, especially as I think he's interviewing all the party leaders so whoever's on next week (Cameron?) will get on BBC1 like the other two and not have mental people talking about the Biased Broadcasting Corporation. I remember in the build-up to the last election, the Women's Cup Final on Bank Holiday Monday, a 1pm kick-off, had the first half on BBC2 and the second on BBC1 so they could do a full-length One O'Clock News.

Interestingly, the first Marathon, in 1981, wasn't live at all, just highlights at teatime, while for a few years after that they only showed the start and end live with the normal Sunday line-up the rest of the time.

Vacancies then on MOTD2 and The Apprentice Your Fired. Whether you like him or not, Chiles is versatile and quirky enough to be different from someone who just reads an autocue. I wonder how long it will be before Christine joins him in the golden handcuffs.
The BBC do shoot themselves in the foot sometimes-a very peculiar power struggle somewhere trying to get Chris Evans into the Friday slot and usurping Chiles. I can see why he was miffed having been a large part of One Show success.
I wonder if this will, in hindsight, be seen as the end of the rise of the One Show.

I think it's wise to have Total Wipeout at 5.30pm. Look how BBC One's 20+% shares kicked off at 5.10pm with the news, then continued with TW at 5.30pm. Having a "filler" repeat at 5.30pm, would have knocked the share back down to 15%, and pushed lots of people over to ITV1 for the rest of the night.

The schedule is designed to bulid an audience before Doctor Who starts, which, in turn gives Over the Rainbow the best lead-in it could possibly get. Despite 90 minutes of Talent on ITV1, only one BBC One Saturday night show fell below 20%.

Great start for Talent. It's hit the ground running, and hasn't lost any momentum.

The Prisoner has turned out to be a turkey, but White's cookery show would have been lucky to match its own Friday figure on Saturday at 9.30pm.

It's because of the Election. If one party's representative gets booted to BBC Two, when all Marr's other shows during the campaign get a BBC One slot, the party getting dumped on BBC Two will throw its toys out of the pram.

That seems ridiculous to you and I, but politicians don't live in the real world. They think politics is the be-all and end-all, and are absolutely paranoid when it comes to even the merest suggestion of not getting equal treatment.

Wonder who would replace Adrian not only on the One Show but also MOTD2 and You're Fired! For You're Fired, I think Victoria Wood would be good as she did a good job when she was on it last series, The One Show is trickier as Evans probably won't do five nights a week as he's got the Radio 2 Breakfast Show/

Really quite stupid of the BBC to foul up a successful combination on The One Show. They've put a lot of work into it and its done the business. Evans can surely only do one day a week alongside his radio commitments, so why on earth would they create themselves a problem Mon-Thurs in an effort to improve Friday?

They've now lost not only their TOS presenter, but need new recruits for The Apprentice: You're Fired and MOTD2. And as for Steve Rider. Well, he moved for the F1 and they lost that - then he stayed for the big football matches, and he'll be getting none of that. I presume Chiles will be in place by the time of the World Cup.

Poor old Steve Rider is frankly out of a job. Perhaps the BBC would take him back, but he won't be displacing Jake Humphries on the F1, and most of their other sports seem tied up, with the exception of the Golf. Might come in useful come the 2012 Olympics, I suppose.

If I was ITV1 I'd offer Christine Dancing on Ice with Adrian. It's a big show, but I think it needs refreshing and I can see her being tempted by it. Phil and Holly both still have This Morning, plus Phil has All Star Mr. and Mrs. and I'm sure they'll be able to find a vehicle alongside The Xtra Factor.

How about Victoria Coren for The Apprentice: You're Fired? She has a business mind, dry wit - I think she'd work it quite well.

As for Match of the Day 2, I suppose Gabby Logan can take on the role.

It is a very strange situation, losing a man who successfully presents 3 programmes just to allow another to get back on primetime tv once per week. I dont dislike Chris Evans, but he has been off tv for so long as to make his appearance on Fridays a gamble really. Surely there would have been another route to try CE out rather than jeopardise so much for what just might be very little.

There must be so many factions in the BBC that eventually and collectively they muck things up.

This has been a huge success for BBC One, competing very successfully with Emmerdale and reducing the soap's ratings to as low as the days when it had Farm in the title. Losing Adrian Chiles will be a big blow for BBC One as he's made the One Show.
However, moving to ITV Sport means he won't be that busy as they only cover the FA Cup, England home games and the Champions League. I wonder now if possibly Steve Ryder might consider moving back to the BBC and if the end of Jim Rosenthal is coming.

which begs the question of Adrian why move? TBH I think this is just the excuse he is using to take the big money deal at ITV.

There'd be quite a bit of BBC Sport work for Steve Rider. He wouldn't get the F1 gig, but if Chiles leaves the BBC, MOTD2 would be available, and with three rugby matches every weekend of the Six Nations, he'd be likely to get one of those per weekend.

Of course, it all depends how long is left on his ITV contract. Could be years left on it, for all I know.

Maybe BBC One want to get rid of The One Show? It's really splits the BBC's audience, it's either something you watch or avoid at all costs.

Well seemingly he was courted last year and it was only the variety of stuff he was doing at the Beeb which was keeping him there. If that was known it makes it even more curious that the BBC would do something which would be seen as a slight and push him over the brink so to speak. Maybe he was tempted by the money but I still think there must have been a factional feeling at the BBC that wanted Chiles out. It wasnt going to take much and they did it.

Will miss him on TOS and The Apprentice: You're Fired (don't care much for MOTD2 I'm afraid).

Not sure who will replace him - possible candidates?
Christine Bleakley (just to twist the knife in further )
Caroline Flack (did great on IAC's ITV2 show last year)
Chris Moyles (I hope not, but he does have a long contract with the BBC)
Chris Evans (again, the twist the knife in, but I actually don't mind him as an interviewer)
Hugh Dennis (funny)
Lauren Laverne (quite cool, good interviewer)
Jeremy Vine (bit serious I know)
Graham Norton (funny, good presenter/chat show host)
