Well I'm watching for once!

I would have thought there'd be increased interest tonight.

A David Cameron lead-in though. Not the best.

LOL.

Adrian "We go away and there's Volcanic trouble!"
Christine "Yes, in more ways than one."

I remember Baddiel and Skinner after some World Cup games, either in '02 or '06?”

I seem to remember the Baddiel Skinner shows didnt do very well.

I liked Gordon's Great Escape and they're doing South East Asia which should be good, Gordon's got a hectic schedule with not only his Channel 4 commitments but also Kitchen Nightmares USA, Hell's Kitchen and Masterchef USA.

Channel 4 seems to following the likes of ITV1 and to an extent Five with authored journeys with their talent like Gordon Ramsay and Jamie Oliver.

A few dates for upcoming ITV1 shows:

British Soap Awards: Wednesday 12th May
All at Sea (3-parter): Thursday 13th May
National Movie Awards: Wednesday 26th May

It rated really badly iirc, more like in the tens of thousands rather than hundreds of thousands.

Also, BBC1's commissioned a new 6-part drama with the working title 'You Again':
Quote:
“Big Talk Productions is planning a “rough and ready” UK version of Canadian drama Being Erica - swapping the title character’s therapist for an NHS worker and relocating the action from Toronto to Glasgow.

Originally produced by Temple Street Productions, the show centres on a 30-something woman who is able to go back in time and fix her past mistakes. It was originally produced for CBC and BBC Worldwide, and acquired by E4 in the UK.

Big Talk picked up the changed format rights from BBCW at the 2009 Showcase and is developing the show with BBC Scotland under the working title You Again. It is eyed as a 6 x 60-minute series for BBC1.

Big Talk chief executive Kenton Allen said the Being Erica creators would have a consultancy position on the show but were “very keen we make a local version for the UK”.

Nicole Taylor (Secret Diary Of A Call Girl, Ashes To Ashes) is penning the scripts, which will recast Erica as a Scot called Zoe and replace her “touchy feely” therapist with a “crabby” NHS employee.

Big Talk head of drama Luke Alkin, who is lined up to executive produce the series, said: “It is a high-concept way of dealing with low-concept issues like relationships and growing up in a family. It is not a typical time-travel show because it is not about discovering the past so much as discovering who you were in the past.”

Taylor’s agent, Joe Philips at Curtis Brown, added: “It is high concept, à la Life On Mars, but with a more attuned emotional heart. It manages to hit all those emotional beats but it is always funny.”

BBC Scotland head of drama Anne Mensah and producer Matthew Read are lined up to work on the series.”

Shame BBC News is thrashing Sky News considering the latter coverage has been superior. Wonder if the pattern will be repeated with the debates.

And amazed Adrian Chiles was on the One Show tonight - usually when presenters jump ship on less than amicable terms they're immediately put on "gardening leave" and never mentioned again.

At the end of MOTD2 he said "see you next week" so presumably its a case of being professional and seeing the contract out. But he will soon no doubt be asking everyone " who are you backing" and mentioning Simon Cowells name every 200 words like all the rest of them.

mmm Im thinking 200 words is a bit many.........

I'd delay it until summer because the last thing they need is to start taking momentum away from Castle, the only positive for their scripted shows so far this year.

They need to reconsider how to structure the season because Desperate Housewives particularly seems to have been hit by scheduling. IMO, it should just be taken off air from January-February to get all the awards shows and football out of the way and then have a clean run to the finish.”

I agree. Desperate Housewives and Brothers & Sisters has been affected so much by award shows this year. It always puzzled me why ABC scheduled the new episodes against the Globes, Grammys and the ACM. Even though this season was Housewives' lowest rated season so far (and it might be by May), they might have had kept 13-14 million viewers momentum, should they have not scheduled them against award shows multiple times.

It's a shame that they didn't hold a G8 on Wednesday Night as the World Leaders would have been stuck here all week and could have done interviews.

Especially as it was aired entirely in daylight.

Perhaps more people are thinking of getting out and about as the weather improves?

Not much chance of Survival surviving with those ratings.

You never had much praise for Chiles either. I suppose he will be flavour of the month now he's consigned his career to the dustbin of history?

A strange move for him to take on the GMTV role. Doesn't seem a good "fit" for either party really. Still, if he wants a dumbed down comfy slippers role after the rigours of The One Show, then fair play to him.

Poor Steve Rider - right royally shafted when ITV ditched the F1 so they could pay massively over the odds to stop the FA Cup/England games getting big ratings for the BBC (and stop them getting big ratings full stop...); now he's been shat on again to bring in Chiles, presumably for no other reason than the BBC shows he presents possibly becoming less competitive for ITV.

Adam Boulton has just revealed on Sky News that the second Leaders' Debate will also be shown on Sky3 so that it will be "easy to find on the EPG."

Listings haven't been updated yet - all the guides say Lion Man at 8pm, but I imagine they will be in the next few days.

Good to see Sky trying to maximise reach through Freeview. I imagine Five would have carried it if it wasn't for the football, especially after seeing how the ITV debate performed.

Football will make them money and is likely to hit 3m whereas with the Leaders Debate, the ratings wouldn't be that high, the first one was the exception as it was the first debate.

Awful for Survival - I don't think anyone was expecting it to be hit so hard by the early start and Countryfile. Foyle's War single-handely held up the night for ITV1.

Over the Rainbow did reasonably well for BBC1, and set the tone for the channel - performing as expected and having a good night.

Come Dine With Me is still claiming the viewers for Channel 4 in tough slots. I bet the 16-34 percentage is quite high too.

Five will be pleased the Europa League matches are still on! Not sure if ITV will be so delighted about being able to air Bayern Munich v Lyon.

I think showing the debate on Sky 3, is proof that Sky are getting nervous that the debate will show, that people just are not interested in watching Sky, like they are ITV of BBC.

As ive said previously, im betting more people will watch the Sky debate on the BBC than on Sky itself. Whilst it also airing on Sky 3, that increase viewers, it will still be the case.

I think its only the BBC, Sky and ITV that can show them - I think they just opened them up to each other.

Will be interesting to see how many watch on the BBC News Channel.
