Glee beats Flashforward. I wonder which one cost more money to buy, presumably flashforward?

Sue Sylvester is outstanding, a truly great comic character. The ratings for Channel 4 will be awful though, considering how many watched on E4. |

Glee returned to E4 after a three-week hiatus last night (Monday) with a record audience, early figures suggest.
The second half of the musical comedy's first season pulled in 1.6m (6.5%) to E4 in the 9pm hour, with an additional 351k (1.9%) watching an hour later on E4+1. ! Just imagine what the official figures will be. Just the E4 figures itself will be amazing (without +1)!

The second half of the musical comedy's first season began with 1.6m (6.5%) for E4 in the 9pm hour. Slightly different to the figures reported by D.M.N. but important to get it right I think.Last night, E4 beat BBC Two and was level with Five and parent station Channel 4 in total viewers. FlashForward managed 1.62m (6.6%) for Five in the 9pm hour, roughly on par with last week's performance. Source & more: http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/tv/s57/g...-audience.html |

Joanna Lumley's Nile doing well for ITV1. Not a smash, but I think they'll be quite satisfied with those figures.
A good early evening for BBC One. Thats the highest number I can recall in a good while for Bang Goes The Theory - 4m opposite Corrie is highly commendable. They've given it lots of time and support, and it seems to be slowly working out. Brilliant once again for Glee. It's been a huge breakout hit for E4 - one of the most successful multichannel series' ever - and I'm sure they'll fight tooth and nail to keep it (they'll need to, because daddy 4 as well as other networks are going to be sniffing around after it). |

Just reading about some of the plots on the ever reliable Wikipedia, it really doesn't seem to know what its target audience was. Plots range from a kid with dyslexia, gun crime, murder, child abuse, ghosts, multiple sclerosis and of course, a gay plot. So it sounds a bit worthy and serious for what it was. That list is enough to make a Disney executive cry. HSM was very simple, innocent and glossy. What Glee and HSM have in common are that they both have some humour, usually provided by a few very OTT characters and neither takes itself too seriously. The musical numbers were stronger, Glee in particular has really benefitted from doing covers rather than originals. Where Glee and HSM are similar is the "Romeo & Juliet" plots. The "jocks" and the "geeks" (or Gleeks) which is a strong point for both. Quote:

It would be interesting to see how the C4 repeats of Glee have been doing. For all we know, the rise for the E4 audience could have simply been due to a decrease in the C4 repeat audience meaning that the total Glee reach may have remained the same throughout the series so far.

I hate to rain on everyone's parade here but Glee is in danger of being a one hit series wonder in the UK. Sky are almost certainly waiting to pounce.
I'm not trying to be alarmist. I genuinely think it's only a matter of time. Fox shows are always the most vulnerable because of the "special relationship." |

Five managed to hold onto House for 4 or 5 season before it was poached, so there's a chance C4 can do the same. Also seeing as there's hardly any decent new shows bedding in over here, C4 might push the boat out to keep it but as ever we'll see..... |

Glee is great but I find it's the humour that works for me rather than the songs although they are good as well. The dialogue itself is top notch and absurb things like the orchestra in the library when they are singing Hello.
I think Sky and Five are probably looking at Glee but truth be told, it fits the E4 and Channel 4 brand better. I think we're more likely to see Hawaii 5-0 as FlashForward's replacement than Glee. |

Well 20,000 is hardly a big difference and I was quoting from D.M.N's list not Digitalspy's as that was not up at the time. And anyway if you factor in +1 it beats it comprehensively. And that wasn't really the remark of the comment I was making, I was trying to ask who has brought the better acquisition economically.
In financial terms Glee was by far the better acquisition, but the downside of that is it pushes up the renewal costs and becomes a prime target for Sky. |

Well the C4 Sunday repeat had risen from around 900,000 to nearly 1.8m over the run of the first half of the season, but C4 have now changed the slots, with the first repeat airing on Friday at 8pm (I really think they should have gone for 9pm) and the second on T4 around 1.30pm on Sunday.
Also according to C4's own website, in February the most watched Glee repeat was on 7/2/10 so it must've gone downhill from then on. I'm more inclined to believe that a big part of Glee's E4 rise is due to a decline in the other showings, due to there being a greater shift to watch the 'first-look' airing. It's entirely possible that the total reach for Glee has remained about the same throughout the run (maybe with the odd boost here and there). |

Fox shows are always the most vulnerable because of the "special relationship." ---- On another note, Jonathan Ross is recording on a Wednesday isn't it? The thing is, Fearne's Radio 1 Live Lounge has been decimated because her guests (1 of them Miley Cyrus I think) haven't been able to make it to the United Kingdom thanks to the ash cloud. What's happening with Jonathan Ross? --- I think the Sky Debate will be watched at least 9 Million, but on different channels and not all on Sky. So it would be split between BBC News Channel, Sky News, BBC Parliament and Sky3. |
