Had my iPhone now for almost a month, to say reception is patchy is an understatement.

Now ok, maybe I do live in an area where signal is poor to medium, but I carry two phones and my other phone not only gets reception where the iPhone doesnt (on the same network) but crucially it also re-establishes connection when a signal is available quicker too.

Also I have experienced issues where it loses signal in an area with no signal and then fails to find signal again when there is one and needs to be switched off to get signal again.

This isnt really good enough Apple. Its not just me, Techradar say pretty much the same thing and users on forums say this also, so its obviously an issue that needs sorting.

Unfortunately Apple want me to take it to a Apple Store (book a genius appointment) and attempt to get it sorted there...but I just dont have the time to do all that and frankly judging from the other users experiences its either a hardware or software issue, either of which will require an update and some action on Apples part, rendering a visit to the store pointless.

Great ui, great apps, but the phone part of it it just doesnt seem to work as well as other phones, which is kind of important as I use it mainly as a phone, if I'd just wanted the other stuff I'd have bought an iPod Touch

I've only had mine for two weeks but haven't had any serious issues with reception. The only significant problem was when I tried to send an email last Friday, the phone indicated a 3G connection but the email refused to budge. If I were you I'd go along to see a genius on the off chance that he'll simply replace the phone. But then I live twenty minutes from an Apple Store.

Perhaps you live in an area with strong mobile coverage?

I know I'm not alone in having this issue.

And re going to a store I bought on-line because of my schedule and taking time out to visit a store isnt an option....even if I believed that would resolve it.

Judging from the Techradar review its an issue that exists by design.
