The Bodyguard soundtrack gave her a little exposure.

The Real Thing got to number 9 or so. I liked it. She did release a single afterwards, a cover of Barry White's 'Never Never Gonna Give You Up', the video featuring her rubbing her soap-sudded tits lasciviously in the bath. It only got to about number 25 or so. I liked the song.

Her "Affection" album is one of my all time fav albums. Takes me back to when I was starting out at hairdressing college

Shes joined the Michelle Gayle, Tina Arena and Dina Carroll brigade, good female singer, couple hits, then vanishes.

She actually had quite a few hits (over 10) plus two number ones.

But she was very much of her time and time has moved on.

I think Dina Caroll suffered from health problems and this caused issues but I cant remember what exactly it was.

Lisa attempted a comeback in 2004 and released a single Treat Me Like a Woman.

My favourite songs of hers are Time to Make You Mine and In All the Right Places.

It's Lisa's birthday next Sunday (11th) for anyone who's interested!

Having listened to Lisa's Real Love CD in full, I am surprised in retrospect that they released All woman as a single. At least 4 other tracks on the cd are stronger, namely
Soul Deep http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KRCfJHqPCDk
Make Love To Ya http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bRXJ3Gd4Jd4
Symptoms of Loneliness & Heartache http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QL2R71QO5X8 and First Joy (Sorry, couldn't find a performance anywhere).

Two of my favourite Lisa Stansfield songs are:' Real Thing' and 'I'm Never Gona Quit You Up'.

I really loved the tone to her voice, shame she sort of faded.

Lisa Stansfield is a brilliant singer and I loved a lot of her songs in the early 90's. Shame she seems to have disappeared. In All The Right Places is my fave of hers, plus Time To Make You Mine, Live Together, People Hold On, Change and All Woman, plus On Fire with her old band Blue Zone is one of the best things she's done, imo:

and Jackie is a really catchy song too:

Those were my fave singles of hers. Thanks for pointing out these early tracks of Lisa's Spaceygal, they are quite lively and bouncy!
