Panasonic DMR-EX88EB 'problem'?

Hi,
I have a DMR-EX88 that switches to 'Guide' at certain times of the day and each time it does so, it causes my Toshiba LCD TV to switch to AV1 from TV/DTV and hence I loose my picture!!! Has anyone else experienced the problem and is there a 'fix' for it please?

Yes, I have the same problem with my EX79 connected to a Panasonic TX32LZD85 by SCART. In addition the option not to take updates for the guide is greyed out so it is not possible to turn it off.
If I recall, it was just the same when connected by HDMI.

(1) Its only doing its job correctly in that its downloading or updating the EPG

(2) you dont use a old scart lead ( How 1980s LOL ) HDMI is the correct way on these recorders then you can use the Up scaling , try 720 or 1080 to suit your eyes and TV

Can't say I've noticed it on my 79 using HDMI but will check this afternoon or in the morning when guide comes on the display. I've got the channel update turned off as it thinks there is one more channel than there is.

My DMR-EX78 did the same initially, whilst getting the EPG update twice a day.

It was simply cured by changing the connection to my (Panasonic) TV from HDMI 1 to HDMI 2 (or 3), HDMI 1 (and SCART 1) have auto switching enabled and will show up as HDMI 1/EC or SCART1/EC etc, so i assume your television has similar functionality.

Hi Guys, thanks for the feedback, sorry I've taken so long to check for replies. I've looked at the settings and can't find HDMI1 or 2 on my Panny. However, is it a case of using either SCART or HDMI but not both? At present I have the Panny connected via SCART and HDMI to the Toshiba TV, the Toppy connected to the Toshiba TV via SCART and connected to the Panny via SCART. Regards.
