Anyone else think that the final group of twenty are possibly the "plainest" set of girls in the final of any reality TV show?

http://www.bbc.co.uk/dorothy/dorothys/index.shtml

Between them theve got the full set.....eyes too far apart, eyes to close together, too gangly and gawky, crooked mouth, wonky nose etc etc etc.

Admittedly some of them scrub up a bit better on TV than the mug shots, but I suspect ALW wants to cast someone in his own image.

Plain? Really? I think they're mostly lovely looking. They all look a bit stripped of make-up in those pictures, and I actually think the two who most obviously have make-up on (Jessica and Stephanie) actually look the oddest in those pictures. I think Stephanie should drop the bright red lipstick tbh - I know it makes her stand out but it makes the rest of her look out of proportion.

That's rather cruel. They're not the most flattering photographs, admittedly, but they're also obviously not 'posed' (compare them with the headshots taken from Saturday's show) - it looks as if some of the girls have been slammed up against a wall and the flash went off. Some of them don't have make-up on or their hair done, so I'm guessing they're using photos not deliberately taken for publicity.
Having said that, there are some naturally beautiful girls there who clearly aren't just dependent on layers of make-up - fantastic eyes, lovely skin - and they all look better in the enlarged photos than the thumbnails.

I think they all look pretty good and some look unusual in a good way/outstanding which may be what he wants.

My conspiracy theory alarm goes of when I note that you can look at the photos and see some that are mobile phone blurry, some that are OK but could be better, some are expressionless and one or two are really well taken aand show a Dorothy personality there - you would think they could hire one photographer who could give them all the same standard of shot.

What a horrible observation to make! I don't think any of the contestants is plain - they each have their own individual charm and some of them are, if anything, rather too beautiful for the role.

Blimey, it's not enough that they've got to be able to sing, dance and act - oh, and they've got a conjuring trick to do where they have to look like a teenager but actually be old enough to hold down a lead role in the West End. No, on top of all that, they've also got to meet your notion of beauty.

Dorothy is a young farm girl living in the Kansas dust-bowl, not a fashion model, so maybe ALW wants to cast somebody who can convince us of that.

i think they all had a certain charm meself. plus; im not really looking for a kelly brook-a-like; just someone who can sing, act and make the role their own. oh bloody hell ive stumbled into cliche central; but you know what i mean!

Lol - I'm just thankful that casting directors of old didn't dismiss Ethel Merman or Barbra Streisand because they weren't exactly Miss World contestants.

Plain?

I think there's some really lovely girls there.

You sure you're watching the right channel?

Ive had another look and......I was right......most of them are just good old damm ugly.

Now, Im not making any comment on whether thats good or bad for the role of Dorothy, just that they seem to have chosen a raft of two plus baggers.....presumably being aesthetically pleasing isnt one of the criteria for the role, in which case its a great long-list.

NEWSFLASH - HARRY HILL GETS THE WILDCARD AND BECOMES THE ELEVENTH DOROTHY.

A wig and a pair of ruby slippers and he could win this.

There are a some successful/attractive people with gaps in their teeth and I think it's quite cute.... remember Gareth Gates for one and Dana who won the Eurovision Song Contest for another... both of them looked sweet with their gaps and there's far worse things people can have than gaps!!!!

Its amazing what a soft focus lens and a bit of slap can do for this lot. Even Bronty has managed to disguise the wonky conk by cricking her neck by 25 degrees. Even mildly attractive Jenny (I got a thing for blondes.....what can I say) has got a head about half the size of everybody else.

Those old pics they had on the BBC site were horrible, did the girls no favours. They are actually really pretty and now the new ones they have up there compliments them more.

What a thoroughly misogynist and unpleasant bunch some of you are.

Probably sitting in your grimy Y fronts, overweight, with bad breath and slagging lovely young girls off like this.
