Why do country songs get decountryfied for the UK?

Whether its removing the Banjo from Taylors songs or the steel guitar from Lady Antebellums Need You Now if your going to do this and turn it into pop trash I'd rather they weren't released at all in the UK, I also remember it happening to LeeAnn Rimes and LeeAnn Womack

The record companies are probably thinking they are 'tailoring' the music for a UK audience, but I'm sure us Limeys can handle a bit of raw country

I've always wondered this. Leann Rimes and Shania Twain only became successful when they turned mainstream.

I think Carrie Underwood would do well over here but i suppose there is no point. She is already three albums in.

There's a very small market for country music in the UK and the record companies know this. Because they still want the acts to be successful and sell as much as possible they target them towards the biggest crowd; the generic music buying one.

c&w isnt as popular here and to hear a C&w twang would probably put most people off buying it and money is the bottom line.
