Jess, Danielle and Bronte, have overtaken Stephanie now.

The current top 5 on the betting is Jessica, Stephanie, Bronte, Lauren and Danielle...

I would take Stephanie out and put in Sophie for my perfect top 5.

Winner - Danielle
Runner up - Lauren
3rd - Jessica (could be runner up)
4th - Bronte (could also be runner up if ALW refuses to get rid of her) :P
5th - Sophie

“Personally I think she is too stage school, along with Jessica.”

I thought Jessica said she hadn't been to stage school etc. as her parents couldn't afford that kind of thing. So if she is self taught, unlike most of the others, she is very good and just needs some help during the competition.

Taken from the website about Jessica.
Quote:
“She started singing at the age of six, and had vocal lessons to work towards her exams from that age. She was part of the Middlesbrough Youth Theatre company”

Jessica certainly hasn't had the help and experience most of the other girls have had. I like her a lot, win or lose IMO she is the girl who will learn the most from this experience.

I,m fearing that Stephanie Davis is another Connie Fisher and Jodie Prenger and if so then this show is becoming to obvious to me. I have nothing against Stephanie but as another poster said she is a bit OTT my opinion exactly i have no favourites so far. Unlike in Nancy where Jessie was a favourite well i will keep watching even if my fear is correct.

Surprised Jessica's doing so well - I didn't think her vocals were any good, and her song choice wasn't Doothy at all. I still want Stpehanie to win, but I also like Emilie, Bronte and Danielle Hope, Sophie and Steph Fearon are good, but Sophie's vocals aren't quite there either, the song choice won't have helped. Steph F should have entered last yea'rs X Factor instead - great voice, but not Dorothy. She might even do well in Thriller Live. Amy's more of a girlband member, Lauren was too shouty, Dani and Jenny were too weak vocally. All in my opinion of course - apart from that Stephanie Davis should win! Fact!

I wouldn't have described either Dani or Jenny as vocally weak. Just the unfortunate performers of a couple of flaming abysmal and unsuitable songs.

Depends how ancient the average voting audience is- past winners suggest its pretty old - the top two on youtube though are Jenny andSophie and if I was casting quite a few shows those two would be very high on my list with Lauren too.

I wouldn't say either was vocally weak generally - but I thought they were last night. I agree that song choice will have played a part though

Really glad to hear it Winehouse! So did I! Not so impressed with Jessica's take on your own smash hit?

I couldn't watch it again.

I tried but it was so abysmal that it sent me to drink.

Lol let's hope it doesn't send you to Rehab!

I didn't enjoy it either. I could just about watch it again, but I'd be laughing

How has Jessica overtaken Stephanie as favourite on the basis of either of their performances?

Crap! How am I supposed to hedge Jessica at these odds?

If she wins, there will be no iPad for me; just a two week fast and I'll have to walk t'factory each day.

I don't think she has in reality. I think that Stephanie is going to be a pretty safe bet most weeks and a very consistent performer. I'd probably include her in the top two at the moment.

As appealing as she usually is, Jessica is rather hit or miss. It simply wasn't the right song choice for her and she took full revenge by completely destroying it. However, I still think she has enough promise.

Betfair Current:

Jessica: 3.25
Danielle: 6
Stephanie 7
Bronte 7
Lauren 7.8

There's your provisional top five.

Next year I am going to do financial background checks before I bet to see if any of the contestants are liable to pull the "I can't afford singing lessons" VT.

Jessica and her family have made Jodie Prenger look like an amateur!

Oh well.

Last year: "I'm in love, I'm getting married, what a whirlwind!"
This year: "We live in a shoe"
Next year: "I have the same doctor as Ali Megrahi"

Bitter, moi?

Ne pas!

A safe bet is what ALW needs - unlike on AI, where my favourite this year is Siobhan Magnus, who's never awful but has better weeks and worse weeks than the more stable front runner Crystal. In theory, I should get my way with both sets of results, because the West End and American Idol are looking for two different things. Hopefully, even if they don't win, Stephanie will end up in the West End and Siobhan will make an album!

As for Jessica, did she pick Rehab, or was it given to her? If ALW etc picked it, it makes me wondfer about their logic behind it, and why that dodgy performance hasn't hurt Jessica's chances at such an early stage. She does have promise - so do all the girls - but will she become consistent enough to survive in the West End before it's too late?

It was claimed that the girls picked their own songs but not sure if I believe that.

It has been said on here that they do actually submit a preferred list of titles and a choice is made from that, and therefore I guess it is possible.

But that was a really bad choice. Nobody else can sing it.

At this stage I don't think it will harm her chances too much. She is very engaging and being a northern girl I really like her.

When the judges dismiss her as not having an especially strong voice, I basically turn a deaf ear. Their comments can be particularly inconsistent, and I'm sure there was one incident when one judge said the girl (possibly Bronte) had a weak voice and the other said she had the most beautiful voice.

I also lost some respect when that guy said that Sophie couldn't be Dorothy, although to be fair the question is presumably based on that one performance, is only used for effect and is ridiculous at this stage anyway.

I had to google Danielle as I couldnt remember which one she was. Surprised I had forgotten as I had put her in my bottom two last night along with Emily, the Wildcard. I thought their vocals were the weakest.

I'm loving Jenny, Jessica and Stephanie, but of the 3 I can only see Stephanie being an appropriate Dorothy.

Graham did make a comment about the girls performing songs which they felt would show off their strengths as a leading lady. I wonder, if they do submit lists of potential songs, how long their lists are and if they adapt or add to them each week depending on what's happening and what everyone else is singing.

I thought Jessica gave the weakest performance last night, but had competition from a few other girls - who were less suited to the role of Dorothy. Jessica will be around for a few more weeks, which I don't mind, but she'd better not win!

It's early days, but I'm always going to want Stephanie to win, however fond I become of the other girls. If I'm lucky, ALW will agree!

I've had to mend my positions. Now:

Danielle: win big, fly to Rio and eat gold for breakfast
Stephanie: 10% profit
Lauren: 10% profit
Jessica: 5% profit - at least I'm not taking a hit now on the favourite

Sophie: lose 50%, drink heavily (hedged before Saturday)
Dani: lose 50%, drink heavily (hedged before Saturday)

Jenny: wiped out, jump off ledge
Bronte: wiped out, jump off ledge

Steph: not losing sleep
Emilie: not losing sleep

Updated odds:

Jessica: 3.45

Stephanie: 6.2
Danielle: 6.4
Lauren: 7

Bronte: 8.2
Jenny: 9.8
Sophie: 14
Dani: 17
Emilie: 55
Steph: 70
