And, to be honest, bragging about how qualified you are, how expensive the clothes and jewellery you wear are and generally how important you are is far more uncouth than any tattoo.

Can anyone give me a little idea as to what the pain is like please?

I know it depends on your pain threshold, how big / small the tattoo and where on your body you get it done but I've heard so many conflicting stories. Some people say it was one of the worst pains ever, some say it's like being stung by a bee over and over (I wouldn't know - never been stung) and others say it's just like being scratched

Im not bragging though. I dont judge myself by those things, they are irrelevant.

However the type of person who will judge me (wrongly) by my tattoos would be the type of person who will judge me (equally wrongly) by my watch and suit.

Im sorry if it came across as bragging, that wasnt the point i was trying to make at all.

The reality of the person i am is probably somewhere between the suit and the tattoos!

Its like being heavily scratched. All mine were ok apart from the 7 hour sleeve sitting.

Your body sort of works with you and numbs the area after a while, in fact its quite a buzz for most people. However when you are looking at 7 hours your body just gives up and says "f*** you!" after about 4 hours!

Dont be put off by the idea of pain. Its not that bad at all.

EDIT: it also depends where you were wanting the work done? Ribs, inner arm are a killer.

Mine felt like someone was stabbing me with a lit cigarette. Only the outline hurts the worst. The colouring in is bearable.

Tattoos are part and parcel of the ned/chav stereotype and my point was that most of the people that I would regard as being neds/chavs would never describe themselves as such.

All i was trying to say was that the person you see on a saturday in a t-shirt with tattoos that you make a judgement on is the same person you see on monday morning in a suit, shirt and tie and make a totally different judgement on. Both are probably wrong.

In all fairness, I doubt i'd be able to spot any of those, perhaps the watch if I saw it up close and it had 'Breitling' or similar on it oin big letters

Posters shouldn't be criticising you for that statement though, it isn't hard to see the context you made it in (although sadly it's all too easy to take things out of context online)

Yeah it is. Depends on where on the body you are getting it though.

Endorphins are naturally created in your body and rush to the area that you are getting tattooed so after 10/15 mins it doesnt hurt much. It becomes a bit of a buzz and is actually pretty cool.

I cant judge pain cos i only know what hurts ME. You could be very different.

For me the only thing that hurt was after about 5 hours when the whole enforphin thing wore off! Thats quite extreme though!

I do appreciate what you're saying though but I just really, really don't like tattoos. I think it's because everyone seems to have the same designs in the same places and it's all a bit boring and unoriginal. However, I realise that I'm in something of a minority these days because I don't have any. I'm cool with that though

You're not in a minority, you're in a huge majority.

The minority of people who are tattoo fetishists are chavs and rather dumb attention seekers full of their own self importance (proven by Cantona07), nothing more.

That is such a ridiculous statement to make.
I would say it's much more dumb to post insults on a forum about people who choose to have tattoos.

It all depends what kind of tattoos they are. I hate badly done 'tramp stamp' ones.

I only like 'rock n roll' tattoos like on Sabina Kelley or Kat Von D.

If you have formed an opinion of me based on me freely admitting i have tattoos and a few posts on here then thats absolutely fine and you have every right to do so if you choose. You would of course be wrong however. I am not dumb, a chav or an attention seeker.

I absolutely detest tattoos with a passion. My friends went through a phase of saying they wanted tattoos, and I was disgusted!
However, I think Henna can look lovely. It must be the difference in tone.
