Does anyone else think that releasing the album after just one single, and within a few weeks of it (May 3rd album, single April 19th), is a bit of a mistake?

If I were Dianas label I'd have had another single in Julyish with the album...

I don't think it will flop but having heard 'The Boy Who Murdered Love' I am shocked she choose 'Once' over it as the first single.

I think it will debut at around #4 and then peak higher with following releases.

The Boy Who Murdered Love and N.U.M.B have to be 2nd and 3rd single respectively. I have a feeling My Hip will be released at some point.

Hope so, I love My Hip!!! It should go
1st: Once (obviously)
2nd: The Boy Who Murdered Love
3rd: Put It Back Together Again or Notice (a ballad anyway)
4th: My Hip
A 5th single or MH does well
End of era, maybe a re-release or new album.

It won't flop but unless 'Once' is still in the top ten at that point then I can see the album peaking low and then maybe climbing after each single is released.

I think it would be sensible if she released 2 singles first.

I doubt it will flop - she still has a lot of loyal followers out there, and probably some new fans to come now that we're not seeing the affected, contrived Diana with her claw every Saturday night. Maybe some of her detractors will actually like her new material.

I've heard she's been on X-factor so therefore people will buy it, as much as I hate to admit it!

mmm tricky one...
She seemed to have a lot of fans on X factor and her style is quite unique and would appeal to a certain musical niche market.
Personally, I don't find her voice appealing at all and I am not a fan of 'Once'. Radio 1 seem to play it a lot these days so she is getting good promotion for it, at least on Radio 1.

She came 5th on XF after being considered the front runner and judges' favourite so her support wasn't that great.

She was in Little Voice in the West End but I'm not so sure those who saw her in that will like this album.

I think it will do well. There's quite a bit of buzz surrounding the album so its best to just milk it. Like Kate Nash a couple of years ago only released 'Foundations' and the buzz was so high they brought the album forward 2 months. So I think Diana will do well, maybe not number 1 but top 10 easily.

I think she'll sell singles but that's no guarrantee she can shift albums. The jury's out for me. Think it could debut quite high but quickly fall away. She has no X Factor show to give her a boost.

Kate Nash's record company are planning to release her album a week after the initial single so it seems this is the way forward- you don't make that much out of singles so they generally work well as promotional tools.
Can't wait to hear Diana's album though

Hmm don't think so is in itunes top 200 on pre-orders alone, a lot of bands release their album after just one single

That is a poor reason to justify a flop to be honest

She's well known considering she was on x factor. Not someone like Pixie lott or La roux who needed a second single to keep the momentum going as they were still newbies.

I don't think it will be a flop to be honest. The album and single both seem to have a varied amount of hype surrounding them and I will consider eating my foot if "Once" does not get into the top 10. I think the album will do considerably well too.

I don't think it's going to flop, it's already at #5 on the HMV pre-order chart and she hasn't even released her debut single yet. I think the album is a surefire number 1 where Once is looking at a Top 3 placing, hopefully number 1 but competition is high that week.

It hasn't there's an album sampler out featuring Once, The Boy Who Murdered Love, Put It Back Together Again, My Hip and Remake Me And You. Plus the 30sec clips are up on Itunes

Don't think it will flop.

Once is so catchy, and people will want to see what else she has on the album.

I hope it won't flop!! She is getting lots of new fans because of the direction she took with the album and she isn't up against anyone too big in the album charts... nt sure about once getting no1 though, the Chipmunk song is really catchy (its actually stuck in my head right now) I am a pessimist tho it will hopefully chart well anyway!!

I think Diana will be an album seller overall. But Once will be successful to really kickstart her career.
