HDD failure?
Hi, my foxsat pvr is about 18 months old and the hdd has always been a bit flaky either not being available after boot or sometimes saying drive not formating on start up. Always righted itself in the past with a power off and on. Last week though i could not access the HDD after boot again but after a dozen or more power off and on still no go. I decided to try a reformat and factory reset but the reformat would not finish just going on for hours and getting very hot. I assume the hdd is kaput and am considering buying the WD 1TB model recomended. Just wanted to ask could there be another cause of the hdd not formatting? I dont want to spend £80 and then still have to pay for it to be sent back to humax.

Welcome to the forum worcesterboy. If your box is out of waranty it might be worth opening it and checking that the hhd is connected correctly, some users have reported flakey hdd operating and then discovered the loose connection to the drive.
