The judges kept harping on about how the Dorothys need to show off their acting skills and Jenny in particular got praised for doing pretty well at this. However, Jenny had a song where the main lyric was "I'm a rock star" so I felt she had a huge advantage when it comes to displaying acting skills...she just had to pretend to be a rock star. Most of the songs had no characterisation of that nature at all.

The judges kept on telling them not to sing the songs so 'pop' but they are 'pop' songs. I do wonder if they would be better off doing songs from musical theatre.

Well they chose their own songs did they not?

I don't know, did they? They don't usually choose their own songs in these shows. You can always tell the one the judges want to get rid of - they make them sing Mr Bojangles.

Some of the song choices were better than others. I can't believe they have a completely free choice.

Sarah Lark sang that in I'd Do Anything the week she went out didn't she..? Yet they made her the understudy, hm... that puzzled me that did, but yeah i doubt they picked their own songs.

Yes, now that you mention it I think she did . I have a feeling that there have been a few contestants go out singing that on X Factor too. As a song, it's too boring for TV talent shows :sleep:
