I find it a bit difficult to place 3 and 4 because we've seen so little of Amy. But I don't like Martha very much. I also can't imagine I'll like Amy as much as I liked either Donna or Rose, hence the big gap. Subject to change, of course.

I must say that I always feel a bit for Freema. I don't think she was well served by decisions around her characterizations. She did show promise at various points, but the whole love sick puppy thing she was stuck with made it very hard for her to make her character well liked.

I agree with this but probably with not as close a gap between Donna and Rose. I did love Rose but Donna was just amazing. I'm not sure where Amy will fit in on the list. At the moment she is 3rd but I'm not sure if she is going to be closer to Rose or nearer Martha.

This is the reason Martha is so low for me. I hate the love sick puppy thing and when that was gone I loved her in the series 3 final with her kneeling at the Master's feet and laughing at him. I thought that would show a turn in her character but when she came back in series 4 she didn't live up to it for me for some reason.

3) Rose (I hated her return in TSE/JE)

4) Martha - although I warmed to her during series 3, her series 4 appearances did more harm than good and I went right off her.

I guess I'm in a significant minority for not warming to Donna, but that's okay. As per kazzabeee's comments, I wasn't a fan of Martha's return appearances, though I was even less of a fan of Rose's return so Martha ends up taking number one on the strength of Human Nature mostly.
