You have to be in full reply mode (ie, not quick reply). Then click on the furthest right icon above the message, a sort of grey S. That will bring up the spoiler code. It will also position your cursor neatly in the middle of the code. So you just have to type the bit you want hidden within the two sets of square brackets. Believe me, if a technophobe like me can do it, so can you.
