iPod Touch - which size to get!
I need a new iPod (I currently have an old school 4GB nano 2nd Gen, which is now full) and I am thinking about saving for an iPod touch.
![]() However, as a teenager with very little money, I'm wary of spending around £200 on an iPod which is 34GB. I know I could buy an 8GB one for around £100 and something, but will this be big enough? I know that if I have an 8gb one I'll have enough space for my music, but will I be able to fit enough Apps on? I really don't know what to do, any suggestions?

I would say buy the biggest you can afford as these things fill up quick once you have them!

I'll probably save up for a bit and just see what happens! I've just read that there might be a new iTouch coming out in Sept?! I've now got another dilemma whether to wait or get one now oh I'm in a pickle I'll probably get one sooner rather than later, I'm in desperate need of a new one!!

I'd wait if I were you. I have no doubts that a new iPod touch will be released later this year. I was going to buy an iPhone 3GS but I am waiting for the new iPhone, simply because it's the newer version.

I'd get the biggest size you can afford/possible. You will fill it up. I remember the first ipod I got was 4gb and I thought that was massive and I couldn't fill it up. How wrong I was. I then got an 8gb model and filled that up. I've now got a 16gb iphone and easily fill that up. When the next iphone comes out, I'll be getting the 32GB, or hopefully 64GB model.

If you're anything like me and want to use it to its utmost potential, the ideal capacity of your iPod touch will always be a gig or two above what you currently have. The amount of space you "need" will always be enough to fill what is available, and then some.
Buy a model with as much storage as you can afford (and be aware that the 3rd gen 32GB and 64GB models have more powerful hardware generally than the 8GB model which is effectively just a rebranded 2nd gen iTouch, and that more powerful hardware will make a difference most in apps). The 4th gen iTouch is unlikely to be released until early September so that would involve a five month wait, but it is likely to include significantly upgraded hardware when it is released (it will be similar to the iPhone 4th gen which will almost certainly have a higher screen resolution and faster processor in order to compete with Android OS phones). |

It depends. If you are going to have loads of apps, videos and music then you probably want the 64GB model, although if you are like me and don't care much for video and only have a few apps then the 32GB model will be more than enough. I get by on my 16GB iPhone at the moment but I wished I had 32GB instead.

I'd go with 16GB due to the upgraded processor etc. As mentioned above. Soon apps will be coming out that will only work with this new hardware

Hi guys!
Thanks for your help, I think weighing it up, I'll probably wait until the new one comes out (despite the expensive possible price!!) That gives me time to save up and actually get a decent one that I'm not gonna fill up within a couple of weeks! I'll keep an eye out on what is going to be updated and the possible release dates and stuff. Cheers

There is no 16GB 3rd gen model, only 32GB and 64GB with the upgraded hardware. The last 16GB iPod touch was part of the 2nd gen range, and the current 3rd gen 8GB iTouch is essentially the same as the 2nd gen version.
