DWTS this year didn't ask back pro dancer Kym who won it the season before which i found very strange.

Perhaps they are getting some new dancers so they can rotate them each series like DWTS do? I hope not but you never know. Or they are having 18 couples this year Just joking, really can't see that happening.

When do we find out which pro's are coming back?

I wouldn't be too fussed to see Anton go now. I think some of his performances with Laila last year (who clearly had potential) were a little cringey.

I'm sure there are plenty of AT dancers desperate for a chance to appear !

I love V & F too, but I also don't think they are automatically safe just because of the AT and don't really think that any of the pros are exempt from getting the boot just because of who they are.

I do think though that they are pretty high up in the pecking order, (Flavia in particular, given the amount of TV work etc she does outwith Strictly) and that it would be a poorer show without them.....But you probably think the same for Darren and Lilia, so its all a matter of opinion really

I agree Dilly I suppose we'll just have to wait and see !
Its gonna be a long few months of speculating though

I hope the SCD execs don't copy DWTS then by not inviting the winner back to defend her crown!

I can't see many of the pros agreeing to a rotation system either tbh - some of them have enough outside interests to begin with that they could decide just not to come back....

I think the pros get contracts in June/July, so we've a while to wait yet....

Kym tried to get more money or would not sign a new contract. I would think that she would be worth what she was asking for but evidently the producers thought differently.

"You will need to be available in Los Angeles, CA at some point during April16-18, 2010 for the interview. More interview details will be forthcoming. The producers are looking for ten dancers (male or female), so please reply promptly if you are interested. "

It is in the last paragraph.

It sounds like 10 dancers the dancing type, or 10 dancers the shortlist. Realistically would Strictly remove ALL their pro's cept 2 or 4 and replace them with mainly Americans?? Cant see it somehow....

ON the other hand- tearing up the contracts and re-employing new dancers on less favourable terms would benefit the BBC (little shits!)

I don't think any of them have contracts anyway Bods, and all of them either accept or refuse new Terms and conditions with each series...maybe this year though, instead of the BBC negotiating with them like they did last year..they are preparing themselves to just replace anyone who doesn't accept the original offer thats put to them.

I was really hoping they would keep things as they are, but its looking like there is going to be some changes with the pros again...its just a question of how many this time.

I'm wondering if a few have quit over money and they are getting rid of a couple anyway.

OR

They advertise for 10 so that plenty apply and then they wittle them down.

Why are the auditions held in LA though as opposed to London aswell

Looking in the USA was how they found Brian, Kristina and Aliona (and maybe Katya too? Can't remember!) so obviously they think it's worth their while doing it (or they want a free jaunt to the US on taxpayers' money - it is the BBC after all )

I'm not convinced that they'll cut 10 pros, it's a bit too ruthless to hold up with the media without any criticism, which they're desperately trying to avoid after last year's debacle....so the shortlist of 10 dancers seems a plausible option. Maybe they'll have that in place, then see how many of the current pros refuse the new contracts offered to them...

they definitely mean dancers who can dance the 10 ballroom adn latin dances

It may be that the ten is a shortlist for the producers to use to squeeze the wages of the pros.
A number of the current pros are very popular and some of them are bigger celebrities than many of the 'celebrities' from the last few years.

There is someone new at the top in the Show, so maybe they have new ideas, but not a good understanding of the situation. Currently, the show needs to improve on the many weak areas, and mostly, the pros are one of the strong areas.

I would think "ten dancers" means dancers who can dance ballroom and Latin but it could just be a shortlist. I highly doubt that the BBC would get rid of nearly all the Pros.
I would imagine Darren, Lilia, Vincent, Flavia, Ola, James, Matthew and Aliona would all be safe because they seem to be the more popular, well thought of pros.
TBH (sorry Anton and Erin fans) I don't think Anton and Erin will be back especially with all the racism stuff and not delivering up to standard chereography involving Anton.

Whatever happens, I really don't want Darren and Lilia to go

Nor me Cherry! ... I think (hope/pray) that Darren and Lilia will be safe, so will Vincent and Flavia. Ola should be as she won it, so that brings in James. Matt and Aliona also popular.

I am wondering about Anton, Erin, Ian ( ) ... maybe the end for them?

I really dont think its the pros that need updating. Its the presenters and the music guests ( many of which were dull last series) that need looking at. Of course the BBC won't admit that.

I can only hope that my favourites are safe.

And here we have the problem. Someone knew might decide to stamp their authority by trying to squeeze the current pros in contract negotiations, or simply by deciding that it's time for some different faces, regardless of the fact that most of the current pros are well loved and proven to be good in the format

I have been out and missed the natter.......I very much doubt that the BBC in their madest moment would replace 10 professionals straight off.........even if thats what the 10 in the advert means. However I do think that there will be changes this year.

I think the main ones in the firing line would be the ones who have never toured with strictly which is Anton, Erin, Brendan and Katya.

It occurs to me that the BBC probably put out a request for Ten Dancers meaning dancers who are proficient in all ten types of dance and the American Agency has misunderstood and said they are looking for 10 dancers. I would think the BBC are actually looking for about two new dancers to replace those who either don't want to do it any more or who the BBC have decided to get rid of. I simply can't believe that they are planning to replace that many pros - it's just a misunderstanding by the Agent. I'm sure they have sent the request out in both the UK and the US and this particular Agent has then advertised for 10 dancers! There are probably auditions happening in the UK as well.
