I remember Francesca and the scots girl singing Whistle down the Wind, as they fought for survival.

Inexplicably ALW saved the scots girl after slating her performances more than once.

Tonight it was interesting watching the other Dorothys: some seemed genuinely distressed (especially Steph - which was understandable, she'd just been through the wringer) but it seemed some were trying very hard to squeeze a theatrical tear or two.

oops - forgot

Oh you cynic Ignazio! (but I agree - not naming names though!).

Whistle down the Wind is a very touching song - made the whole thing even more sad

I liked it, they give them a good send off.

That would be the icing on the cake.

I think the winning sing off Dorothy being the one to carry the shoes to ALW is bit of an odd touch as well.

Perhaps it was choreographed by someone who was interviews for dance captain on WOO and didn't get it?

The cruellest part is when they announce who got the lowest number of votes before they sing at all. And when Graham begins with, 'You are the two least popular Dorothys.' Very mean. Still, Amy did great with the song at the end, so they do get a little bit of time to shine. All the other girls looked traumatised!

You are very funny!

I liked the bit at the end, possibly abit long but i thought it was nice.
Handing ALW the shoes was abit odd though.

Yes, that's the only bit I wasn't keen on. I actually found it a touch creepy.

It's horrible. I'd far rather see him give them a hug or even just a pat on the back and wish them well.

What will he do with 10 pairs of ladies shoes anyway?

I thought it was really sad but a really touching way to say goodbye, especially the part when Amy sang the bit: "Why can't I" before the moon lifted her off, a real emotional farewell.

I would'nt worry too much ALW says she will be perfect for a part in 'Legally Blonde' just a nice way of saying you're not Judy Garland

Hmmm, perhaps the lord will flog the shoes on ebay, or give them away with tickets to love never dies.

Edit, It wasnt sad it was camp as barrowman.

I think the departure song is quite apt really.... the lyrics say it all as she floats over the rainbow.

Fair play to Amy..... she was a real trooper and delivered it without the usual snots and tears. She did herself proud as a performer and I really hope this proves to be a real platform for her. I was surprised by how talented she is. Obviously with regards to the part of Dorothy, it was the right decision, as she in no way was suitable for it.

I think they have used that strategy before. I'm sure it was always the 'saved' Nancy who got to take the locket off the evicted Nancy in I'd Do Anything.

As I say, though, I'd rather see the Dorothys throw the shoes at ALW. Perhaps there could even be a reprieve for a direct hit

Throwing the shoes would be great, they get to choose, panel, ALW or graham...

These are the shoes that the Dorothys have been practicing throwing all week but none of them wanted to throw. They are shoes that ALW handcrafted himself and he knows every stitch.

They could have a fabulous new game called 'Deck The Lord' ..

Ten points for a direct hit between the eyes, five for a straight blow on the nose.

And then throw a bucket of cold water over him if they prove inaccurate and catch him below the belt.

It's certainly a more elaborate send-off than before, with the ritual with the shoes and the loser flying off on the moon.

Looks cruel ?..perhaps, but no more so than any of the other shows ? I actually thought it successfully showcased Amy better than anyone would have expected. For the first time, I really warmed to her after that exit..her best performance on the show. It certainly wont do her future career any harm.

Yes, I think being give a chance to sing Over the Rainbow on prime time telly is a good parting gift - it feels much less cruel than making the Josephs climb the stairs with their coats stripped off and hit a high note at the top.

Though Seamus' exit still makes me smile.

I have a feeling that they do get some kind of help and support after the show, since it's become part of the 'story' that they mainly go on to do well.

To have ALW say you'd be perfect for any kind of West End Role is pretty good stuff compared with the dismissive comments that some of the Nancys got from the panel and ALW himself - 'Not for me' etc.

Maybe Sheila Hancock has threatened to kneed him in the nads if he isn't nice to the gels!

Agreed.

Nice long send off, with plenty of time for tearful close ups of the other girls.
