Do the contestants get paid?

I was wondering they have to commit to the show for like 7 or 8 weeks. If they are older they may have mortgages etc and have had to leave a job in order to do the show. Clare with short hair who didnt make it is/was a bank manager for example.

Do they get paid while they are on the show? I mean, its not like they just turn up on a Saturday they have a whole week of rehearsing etc etc

If they do get paid, how much? Minimum wage?

Equity is the actors trade union and I believe they have standard contracts for performers.
