Would it have been a good first story for the New Series?

Okay, imagine a world where RTD was never ever executive producer of Doctor Who. Imagine if Steven Moffat had been in charge of the new series from the off. No
Ecclestone and Tennant. Would The Eleventh Hour have made it as a good first story for the new series? Would Matt Smith have made a good first Doctor instead of Ecclestone? Would we have had less baggage without the constant returning of companions, lonely Doctor, Time War, family interests etc? I personally think, without the regeneration part of the story and the fact Matt Smith is a good Doctor, maybe The Eleventh Hour with a bit of rejigging would have made a good first story for New Who. What does anyone else think?

Well given I think it is a lot better than 'Rose' (which I think was pretty weak), I'd say The Eleventh Hour would have been a good opener with a few tweeks.
