I love Jessica, but think they need to give her more musical theatre songs. I understand why she had The Voice Within, but I really think she's an all-rounder as opposed to straight singer- which is definitely NOT bad thing!

Does she remind any of you of Diana Vickers?

Thanks for putting my mind at ease! At first I thought when I saw Jessica, hey is that the girl who was on the maria's show's little sister. But she does also look a bit like Danielle too. not so much. |

Count me in
![]() She's not the strongest singer but I can't take my eyes off her. She's a very engaging girl. And her slight awkwardness and quirky nature would suit the character of Dorothy well I think. What she has you can't teach. She can really act, she can sing, she can dance and she has that certain something which is very rare. I call it crackle - others would call it a magnetic stage or screen persona - other star quality. |

I love Jessica too - she has charisma in bucket loads and there is something about her. When she was acting the "scarecrow" scene - I couldn't take my eyes off her. She is quirky and slightly gauche and very talented.

She frustrates me because she has bags of talent but she's not channeling it effectively yet. She's so desperate to make an impression at the moment, that I think she's over-egging things. It's all a bit forced. I want her to settle down a bit. Not try so hard. And let her personality and talent sparkle naturally. |

That's a very flattering summary of Jess - she'd be pleased with that review!

Fair post Sid.
I think she needs someone to take her under their wing, calm her down and get her to really focus. Like Sheila pointed out, Jessica has a tendency to convey the meaning and emotion of a line in a scene by arranging her face in what she thinks is the appropriate expression. She needs to actually feel inside what she's saying and project that to the audience intead of being so contrived. John made a similar point about the way she delivered her song last week too. Plenty of time to improve though

You can see the difference in her in the group numbers and in the top 20 show when they did 'All That Jazz' |

Shockingly enough, and you might want to mark the calendar, I completely agree with you.

She'd benefit immensely from some one-on-one time with an acting and vocal coach, because at the moment it seems like she's making some elementary errors.

Its frustrating watching a naturally talented girl with bundles of stage presense over-looked. |

Jessica's up against a very strong field of girls but she held her own tonight.
She's a contender again, although I agree with Sheila that she needs to 'act' less and 'feel' more like she did towards the end of her song. I'm glad ALW pointed out that the songs in The Wizard of Oz aren't all that vocally challenging. That gives Jess hope because she's not the best vocalist. |

i liked Jessica tonight, so much better than usual. Her voice actualy sounded quite pretty. Acting was sincere and matched the song for once. I hope she continues to improve.
