Whenever I watch and then pause a recorded programme..which is still recording..
upon resumption of play I get Sub Titles.. Is this unusual? ![]()

Best way is to record the programme and watch the recording in chasing playback. That way you don't lose the end if the programme finishes before you catch up to real time
![]() But I sometimes get watching & the phone rings--etc. OPs point though was that it didn't used to show the subtitles, in those circumstances. I even endured a spate of "super-titles" a few days ago. ![]() David |

You are right, Graham, perhaps I should plan more.

Phone rings, press the red record rather than pause (asuming of course that you are not already recording two.). After the call bring up the media list and choose the recording.
A couple of times I had to go back out to Media list/Resume playing after pausing. It was usually difficult to pause after starting Record. I think my remote may be suffering transient problems. I already raised this in, http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/forums/s....php?t=1234334 This was about causing a channel change when I was seeking next page on text. For a while that was cured by fitting new cells at 1.62 v It came back when the cells fell to 1.52 v That seems an uneconomical way of using batteries. ![]() David PS I am again thinking that I need to open the remote & clean it. But how do we open it ?? |

Thanks Graham, something strange here, This worked sometimes & not others.

My remote started displaying similar problems at around 18 months. I bought a harmony remote and now wish I had right from the beginning
![]() I've just taught my favourite wife to use this remote to control HDR & the Panasonic LCD TV. Choosing a Harmony to do it instead might raise an acrimonious eyebrow! But if I dared, which Harmony would you suggest? We could finish with 3 remotes & engage in "remote" wars. ![]() ![]() ![]() David |

Yes Graham, I've a number of times done something that I realise I should have done much earlier.

Is this unusual? ![]() ![]() On the "Open the remote thread", http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/forums/s...1234334&page=2 particularly post 33 onwards, which insome ways overlaps with this, I just posted:-- I changed to Energiser Ultimate Lithium batteries, 2 days ago. This seemed to clear the "unwanted subtitles" that arose after pausing. Channel changing when trying to move down text pages was NOT cured. Although as in my previous post this was cleared by opening & cleaning with meths. (SO FAR !!) A word of warning about Energiser Ultimate Lithium batteries. Their open circuit voltage was 1.82v. Even after 2 days use they are still 1.75v These are not the Humax recommended cells or voltage, but I was so irritated that I took that chance. David |

Thanks David..
Been so busy after the 'Dorothy Cock-up' that have not pursued further.. I'm way behind times in digital detail .. but old fashioned design philosophy makes me think that there is an inherent failure within your remote.. not experienced by the thousands of other users..unlike problems such as well remembered 'Silver Ion Migration' and 'Membrane Failures' in the early Electronic Exchanges.. Battery voltages are palliative i would suggest in your case.. although when younger i would have done just as you.. ![]() Hence i could not resist partaking in your Quixotic Grail.. so I dug out a pair of 10 YEARS OLD NICAD batteries and charged then for 30 mins.. they said 1.3V so I stuck them in the Humax remote and Voila.. still works from some 20 feet away..Windmill collapses ![]() My wife still uses her SKY Remotes which are AV arranged such that they over-rule everything.. hence i see no need to get a Harmony..as we now no longer leave the house for weeks at a time.. and i just accept that the Power-Fail Bug will still get me one day. |
