New Bookies Odds

Jessica 5/2
Stephanie 4/1
Danielle 5/1
Bronte 6/1
Lauren 7/1
Jenny 8/1
Dani 12/1
Sophie 14/1
Emily 14/1
Steph 33/1

Wow it's all change since before the first show-how on earth is Jessica top of the leaderboard??!! and Bronte certainly didn't do anything to convince me she should be above Lauren, Jenny or Sophie... Dani probably deserves her dramatic fall, but Emilie should be much lower- 100/1 would be more accurate

Short odds for Jessica so soon?...

Must be a lot of cash going on her.

Jess is leading the DS poll and more importantly was the most popular on twitter on saturday.

She has star quaility which many of the others lack, especially Danielle.

She's a very worthy favourite imo

I don't think it means much yet. Only half a dozen bookies are quoting odds, and I very much doubt if there has been much money wagered up until now.
They have "experts" who compile the ante-post odds for shows like this, but obviously, some money has gone for Jessica, she is in to 2-1 with a couple of bookies..but six of the remaining girls are grouped between 5-1 and 8-1, indicating there has been little interest..yet.
Someone seems to have decided Steph is a complete no-hoper, she is on offer at 50-1 with one bookie.

Sophie at 14-1 is a good value for money bet

Jessica has the personality factor as well, huge plus, a few of the girls seem not to be showing that side as of yet

I think they will show more of the girls personalities over the coming weeks. Don't want them to peak to soon.
As for Jessica I priced her as the favourite pre event, but to be honest I think her vocals are not as good as some of the girls, judging on this weekend.
That being said a few of the girls had absolute tosh to sing (and if Bronte were to be judged on the Girls Aloud crap, she would have been the girl to be kicked out. It was just awful).
Lauren was the best singing performance of the night (but she is too polished and had the best song). Stephanie was the best overall performer. Thought Danielle put over an understated performance, which showed great promise for the future.
Of the others Sophie started well and then hit a real poor patch of bum notes. Emilie and Jenny were so poor they had the K19 fast forward button to get them off the screen (shocked by the amount of people who rated Jenny). Also thought Steph was outsung in the sing off, with the wrong girl going.

My favourite to hopefully get the role of Dorothy at the moment is Sophie. But if any of you have seen old photos of Judy Garland, you will notice the resemblance that Jessica bears of her. That might be why she is being placed favourite at the bookies at the moment.

Interesting - looks mattered for Nancy and Maria as people went for the look of past performers.

I don't see much reason otherwise why Jessica is above Jenny - apart from being scottish with an English audience which is only sometimes a problem. Jenny did the same style of performance with more polish and fire. If people don't like one they probably shouldn't like the other and if they are willing to go with more modern, dynamic, Dorothy, those two should be closer.

Oh =[
I like Sophie and Steph.. But I don't think I want Steph to win.
You are right, I have never bet but Sophie would be a good choice. And I do think Jessica has some star quality yes but her song did not highlight her voice.

Have the judges seen them practice the songs? Wonder if they get influenced by that at all even if the nerves of the night alter a performance

For me they were the complete opposite ends of the spectrum; Jessica is my favourite, Jenny my least favourite. Jenny's performance really grated on me, and the dance movements in particular were very irritating and fake. I also think she looks quite old in a way, I was surprised to read she was 18, I thought she was about 26 - after Amy I think she is the one who looks least like a Dorothy.

I think the winner will be Jessica or Stephanie, on the basis that they look the most like Judy Garland (Jessica in particular). I think the public will (again?) pick someone who looks like what they think the character should look like rather than someone more unconventional.

I put together some pics to show how alike Jessica is to Judy Garland, because I think her looks might make a difference as to being chosen to be Dorothy, especially as ALW goes on about the farmgirl look of Dorothy.
