She would maybe have done better if she'd left the top of her hair flowing free and left off the false eyelashes... there was nothing wrong with being blonde....

Her look was very hard and false and didn't match the great voice....

It does add to the theory that she was only there to add publicity and not because she'd had a realistic chance of winning. But saying if she'd dyed her hair does she honestly believe that would have saved her??

Who knows? We weren't given the chance to find out.

It's not fair given that at least one other Dorothy did change her hair colour.

Didn't jessica dye hers brunette, if they allowed her why didn't they allow Amy. I'm sure Jessica had a different coulour hair each show too, she started of blond, then it went reddish, and now its brunette.

When I saw 'axed 'Rainbow' star upset over makeover' the first thing that went through my head was Zippy!

I suppose they wouldn't want eleven girls with identical hair colour.

I suppose when all said and done it would be too much to expect her to do it herself if she felt so strongly about it, personally if she thought it would improve her chances so much I am surprised she didn't do it before auditioning

Are you suggesting her current hair colour is entirely natural?

I found her height to be more problematic than her hair colour. Thought it looked really awkward when you saw her next to the much smaller Steph...

I agree. Brunette, blonde, redhead - immaterial. But they could at least try to look a bit younger and more innocent. So many of them were over-made-up (if there is such a word) - Danielle and Stephanie in particular. You do wonder about who is styling the contestants before the shows. I know Stephanie is surgically attached to her red lipstick, but it's a mistake, IMO, to do anything that gives a subliminal message to the public that, no, this girl is not Dorothy.

I don't think it would have made a blind bit of difference.

In fact, the darker hair might have aged Amy even more - and that was the problem, she just looked too old for the role.

I think trowelling off some of the make up and strapping down those bosoms would have been a more effective "makeover" for the part, but I still doubt it would have been enough.
She's got a strong voice and is lucky enough to have been given a chance to showcase it on one of the BBC's biggest shows. She was never going to be the right fit for pubescent farm girl Dorothy, but she may be able to get some other work off the back of this experience. I hope she makes a success of it.

Thought Amy's false eyelashes looked particularly daft. She could hardly open her eyes!

If I remember from previous series the girls don't get any choice in what they wear and how they're made up so it could be that Amy wanted to cut back on the make up etc and wasn't allowed to.

I wonder if producers didn't like the fact she was getting support from contestants and pros from a certain ITV show?
