Which BB Housemate has been the most successful?
Hendry the 8th

Craig does DIY programmes, Brian has done TV, Alison is on This Morning, Kate was on RI:SE and is on the radio and Jade is always in the papers.

Which housemate has been most successful though?

I would guess at Alison doing the best.

Only a guess though

What is "successful" ?

On a purely financial basis, of course it's Jade, could hardly be anyone else. Recently reported as the first (and only) ex-HM to rack up a £million in post-BB PR-related earnings, thanks to newspaper & magazine deals, TV appearances, a panto run, Dance Workout DVD, etc.

The rest of the top ten league table runs, in order: Nick Bateman, Brian Dowling, Kate Lawler, Anna Nolan, Helen Adams, Craig Phillips, Alex Sibley, Cameron Stout and Bubble.

Too right. It can't just be money - Jade would win on that criteria but who would want to have Jade's relationship with the public or media. Most people would pay a million not to be known as the national idiot. The figures made up by the tabloids are pretty hopeless anyway as they feature jobs that never existed and omit things that we all know people did..

Jonny and Allison seem to have used BB to change careers and seem to be doing what they wanted. Jon Tickle seems to have a part-time TV career in his holidays. Brian is quiet but he always avoided the limelight anyway so perhaps he is happy. Don't know why people assume he made a lot of money as he missed out on all the newspaper and magazine deals, advertising and videos that others went into. Wouldn't have thought SMTV or his show after 12AM would have paid more than RISE so its unclear where he made his reputed money. Voiceovers still make money though. Craig gets slagged off by Anoraks whose bile is inversely proportional to their knowledge , but he seems to be making a good living with TV work and I see he recently opened the local DIY store - which probably brings in as much in 4 hours as he used to make in a month. Alex seems happy even if the most inflated reports of his earnings were based on reports of advertising campaigns he was never actually seen in.

As far as being around as TV or national radio performers goes it looks like Allison and Kate are the only ones left in the race. Allison seems to have filled a niche. Kate has a richer CV but the jury is out until we find out what Kate did next.

You've got some good ones in there nwbabe .....

Jon, I think is particularly successful, because he had the BB experience and didn't change for the worse (or at all) ......

Craig is successful because he's kept his feet on the ground but exceeded his limited expectations .....

The thing to be grateful for is that Cameron is presenting neither Songs of Praise nor Top Gear, which is what he wanted out of the BB experience .....

Mel from BB1 is clearly the most successful - she gets to write travel features for glossy mags after visiting exotic places free of charge and then comes home and snogs alex.. i mean hellooo! could it get any better! - sorry in my excitement i seem to have turned into an extra from the ricky lake show ... apologies

If you actually saw listed the amount of work that Brian has done since leaving the BB house you would see how underestimated that figure is.

He worked for 20months on SM:tv at a reported 150K per annum. Had his own 13 week series, 6 months doing voice-over work on the Salon and recently 15 issues of Celeb Bodies. It is a well know fact the voice-over work is very lucrative. Add on to that numerous prestigious personal appearances with the like of Flugtag, Elle Awards, Pride in the Park, Breast Cancer Care etc etc, plus lots of other smaller presenting roles and one-off television appearances - too many to list here.

However I am sure Brian would love for the taxman to agree with your estimation of his earnings.

You beat me to it BDGA!! I was just about to say pretty much the same thing. You forgot to mention the advertising work he has done (Outburst, Atomic Kitten's Greatest Hits, Walls Ice Cream, etc etc ... )

I think having your own show, no matter what time it's on, would pay pretty well somehow! Especially as it was the highest rated night-time show on ITV in 2003. I don't think Kate's little stint on Ri:se can compare to the amount of work that Brian has done, although I wish her well. Success isn't just about money either - it's about being respected. Judging by the amount of work Brian gets within the industry which isn't necessarily televised, I would say he's pretty well respected, and is gaining more and more experience all the time.

Just because he didn't sell his soul to the tabloids doesn't mean he hasn't made himself a very respectable amount of money. We will never know for sure, however, as he is never likely to spill his guts (literally!) in the same way as Jade.

Good luck to all of them - I hope they all manage to make a decent living out it all.

The person who has been the most successful to me is John Tickle nothing to do with money.
I just have more respect for John than the likes of jade or sophie or lee

I think the person who has been most successful and made the jump from BB to a TV career in her own right has to be Alison. She is the only one I can watch without thinking of Big Brother the whole time she is on screen. ITV obviously have faith in her as well considering the calibre of some of the jobs and locations she is sent to, as well as appearing on Celebrity Fit Club - not as an ex reality star, but as a TV presenter. It is just so odd that she was voted out so early.

Alison is doing really well, and good luck to her, but a spot on This Morning and a few appearances on reality TV shows isn't what I'd call a hugely successful TV presenter. I think she benefits in a way by having been evicted from BB so early, as she was able to lose the BB tag much more easily than some of the others.

Plus, unlike some of the others, she has a personality!
